Hi All,

Was planning to buy a DVD Player for home. Far too many options to choose from. And frankly did not understand a lot of features as well and whether they are useful for me or not.

My requirements are as follows:

Playback Media - DVD and USB Pen Drive (Primary)
Playback Formats - DVD, Xvid (Primary), H.264, Mk4 (If possible)
Budget - Rs 5k-7k

Dont need a blu-ray player as I dont intend to invest any money into Blu-Ray discs. Not yet progressed that ahead :) plan to stick to regular DVDs and Xvids.

Would welcome all your suggestions.

In that budget you can look for blu-ray players. BDPs support more file formats and HD movies. Sony has some models close to your budget.

Even if you do not wish to invest in blu-ray discs, it is always better to buy a BDP rather than DVDP. BDPs will excel in the upscaling process over a DVDP and as Baiju said, you can easily get a Sony BDP in that cost (around 8K). It will also make you future proof to a large extent.
