anm: I prefer headphones, to be honest: Currently using Denons for outside the house/office and Audio Technica in the office.

aakashr: Thanks, always good to hear from a reader.

denzong: Yes, as you've seen the cover story is usually the SuperTest, which is on TVs most of the time. We tend to favour TVs because it's the largest growing segment of Hi Fi equipment in the country, although the SuperTest is only one of our regular features, we do a lot of other features too, such as tests, news, comparisons as well as the Buyers Guide. We even did our Supertest on headphones for a change in August, and we've been diversifying a bit to cover even tablets and cell phones these days.

sam9s: We're a small team so we all do everything. Nothing specific that we each handle.

spirovious: Some of the reviews are done by us, some are from UK.

Ali,

I had taken a lot of inputs from your and other magazines while making my Mini Theatre.

In-fact the editor of your magazine had helped me to source the Dalite screen.

Wlecome Ali - Nice to see reviewers on the forum. I myself am an inactive reviewer for soundstage.com
Cheers,

Thanks to all you guys for the welcome... Been spending the Dussehra holiday catching up on movies and sleeping, will dive straight into the forums tomorrow :D

welcome to hfv.

Here're a few issues with yours and some other magazines too. Maybe you have the power to wake up the powers that make the decisions. Its been a while since i bought the mag, so maybe my info is out of date.
Most of the times, the reviews are verbatim copies from uk reviews, including the prices, price based comparisons, value for money concept etc. probably before publishing, these could be tailored for the indian market. the published price list at the end also many times is a straight conversion using the currency conversion rate from uk pound rather than the magazine taking pains to find out whats the real or msrp price, making it utterly useless.

Hey doors666,

Thanks for the feedback, it's always good to hear from readers about what they think.

We did often take reviews directly from UK, but as the team has grown in size a bit, we've been able to do more work on the features before we publish them. These days we've been going through the text to iron out UK specific content and make reviews more suitable to Indian readers. We've also built up a database of contacts with various dealers and distributors who import equipment. We only convert prices when there are no local distributors to check with, and often buyers will have to pick up these products abroad or have it shipped. The converted prices are indicative of the costs of having these products shipped. But if a major brand/manufaturer that we publish has a local distributor, we'll definitely get an accurate MRP from them.

We also do a lot more local content now, which include reviews done by our team, locally relevant news, etc. The Buyers Guide at the end of the magazine has also gone through a much-needed update and is more-or-less accurate now. If you pick up a copy now, you'll definitely be happy with the changes we've been carrying out over the last year or so.
