All about the price, isn't it ?

There are many knowledgeable/experienced people (who were part of this forum) who have either moved on or post/visit very less due to the quality of the discussions. It has come down in the last couple of years.

This is absolutely true. I personally know quite a few of them. And I see them very active on some other forums !

During a discussion a very senior audiophile who used to be a member of this forum told me that this forum is not very welcome for folks with real listening experience. Hence they move on. Sad but true.

Price is of course a serious consideration for everyone when it comes to shopping for any gear. But if this is a serious hobby, there are some sacrifices one needs to make.

"real listening experience..." :indifferent14:

Well, of course, there are those whose experience of hifi is wide and varied, and if this is what it meant, then fair enough. I've owned one amplifier for about a decade.

I do suspect a percentage, though, of not liking having their fixed ideas challenged or disagreed with. In which case, they are welcome to ...move on!

As odyssey mentioned, the annoying bit is when people _only_ barge in to ask about prices, without any relevance to the content, equipment specifics etc. in a thread. And that's pretty much every other thread.

I don't think there is a problem in asking the price in first point, cautious about the affordability, then see for the quality:p:p

Yesterday also i have asked to Sidvee in his Theil speakers posting about the price first and the impression next, almost want to check the prices first then I want to go for audition. It is always better:p Not to barge in only to have audition and not buying later:)

Well, there are threads with some serious music discussions and some threads which are price based. Both have their own places. In a normal cycle, during purchase/upgradation one follows lots of price based threads and other times he would like to go deeper into the music discussions.

Now, what OP probably is hinting at some people who just join the forum for a specific purpose and overload the threads. YEss...thats irritating!

One can decide his taste and follow threads of our choice. BTW so far this has been a "price free" thread! :)

Interesting thread! Of course, dealers and their agents hate it when ppl discuss price in open, coz that makes it difficult for them them fleece the customers.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
