hi, my amp onkyo tx nr906 is generating a lot of heat,it is famous for hdmi board failures.i am using this as a preamp and yamha mx1 as power amp. even though i am using this as a pre it is generating a lot of heat. so i started a new project with temperature display.i connected the 12v power supply directly to the amp, so that the moment you switch on the amp the fans and the sensors start working.
both the sensors are directly mounted above the BGM chips where maximum heat is generated.
Three fans are mounted above the HDMI board. they sucking the hot air from the amp.
the 12v 2amp supply purchased from eBay India, the fans and the temperature display units are purchased from Ali express. the 12v power supply had voltage adjustment, i adjusted the voltage to 10v so the fans run without any noise.the temperature display units requires 12v ,so same power supply used.here is the project images. now i am confident that the temperature
inside the amp is under control.the total project cost is only INR1400/-. i am happy with the results.
