I don't see audio quality setting at all! I am on Android.
Me neither... Probably they might have released this only on iOS for now. Although I can see the new ATMOS albums on Android.

I used indian account to enable it on vpn but strangely could not see any content marked as lossless/hi res in the app even with vpn turned on
After I switched off the vpn even the settings don't show hires

No, the Audio Quality option doesn’t show up for Indian users yet. I hope Apple hasn’t ditched the Indian market like other lossless players.Saw this; don’t know if it works

If Apple also doesn’t find the Indian market worth providing lossless, I am giving up on the big music streaming players. I’d then stick to my CDs and internet radio (including some FLAC stations) and limit streaming to the niche apps such as HCL Music (Indian classical), Hungama (Indian regional) and Primephonic (western classical) which is perhaps the only hi-res music app officially available to Indian users. Don’t like being given second-class treatment.

Spoke to someone at apple support for this and they confirmed that India will get it in the near future and is categorically not available. Not sure what "near future" means but could be weeks/months (hope its earlier).

I have a question to those knowledgeable about technicalities of music streaming:
Considering the reluctant progress towards lossless streaming by most providers, the reason is likely to be cost, profit, greed (usual suspects)
Are Bigger files ;as in lossless audio files) more expensive to stream (for service providers) or are they more expensive to the consumer ?
