One of my friends asked me yesterday if there are 100" LCD TVs available.

Apparently the requirement is for a large room where the ambient lght is high and therefore a Plasma screen is not being considered.

He says he checked the web site of all the big brands in India (Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Elgi) but could not find anything beyond 65".

Any suggestions as to where such a large LCD TV can be procured?

Wow. That's a lot of money. I've no idea about his budget. Unlikely that he can fork out 1Cr though.!!

there is a sharp 70" led around 3000USD, probably the biggest reasonably priced set. I am not sure if it is available in india

then there is runco videowall system for 40K usd, this iirc a rear projection system for high ambient light application

Or get a combination of high lumen projector and Black diamond screen,

Sharp , I remembr, Launch rice was around a crore couple of years back. What is yor friends budget?

Electronics major Sharp has launched the world's largest 108 inch Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen in Indian market.

This newly launched device christened LB-1085 costing Rs 97 lakh, is meant for hospitals, security purposes and High Networth Individuals.

Explaining the difference between Displays and LCD TVs, Mr Sunil Sinha Sinha, managing director of Sharp business system limited stated, Displays are designed for 24-hour usage whereas LCD TVs are meant for intermittent usage.

LB-1085, with 7.8 feet hight , is bundled with an ASV low-reflection black TFT LCD monitor, a screen-size, which roughly equals four 52-inch monitors and claims to be of a low-power consumption design aimed at reducing CO2 emissions.

A 2008 sharp means its based on ASV tech which has rather poor viewing angles and black level at that size you will see contrast and color shift quite easily.

For that size its best to go with a projector. Or get a personal viewing system like the Sony head mounted 3D display HMZ-T1 .
