Are you talking in general or specifically about using tone controls with the NrT tweeters? (which was the question I was replying to)

Where a rather knowledgeable user wmax (chris) posts that if you take a neutral speaker like the ascend cbm-170 or sierra-1 and pair it with a Behringer DCX 2496 you can pretty much custom tailor the sound to the type of coloration you individually prefer. So rather than going out and hearing different brand speakers you can achieve any type of sound with the eq and a pair of neutral speakers.

How effective/realistic is this process ?
Is it worthwhile to try it? Will a noob like me be able to use it and get desired results ?

Any comments appreciated...

Don't have experience with that, so can't say either way. I have read similar comments more w.r.t. active speakers (that have active configurable crossovers and use bi-amping).

UPDATE: Just ordered the sierra-1 piano black pair, now the wait begins.

UPDATE: Piano black cabinets were out of stock for the last two weeks.

My speakers recently shipped out yesterday.
