Yes. That's right. As per Vaibhav (Astonia company owner) there is no significant change except they improved the speaker connectors (replaced from steel to gold plated).

After reading all these reviews I also made the dive ... bought Astonia SC300 New and pairing it with MA - BR1. must say its sounding the way i visualized. I mainly listen to B'wd OST / Ghazals and this setup is more than doing justice.

Word of thanks to Vinay for recommending it ... and Vaibhav (of Astonia) for being so helpful. thank you ... HFV members for your expert guidance ... its been nice beginning for me.

Thanks

Welcome Buddy, I think you bought BR1 from Denny. He mentioned it during my recent visit for buying Marantz NR1402 and was surprised how you knew the exact price of BR1. Actually I bargained real hard because I was in a tight budget.

Just to let you know my same set up is really shining day by day. I am now using it with Asus O play mini and looks like hifi world is giving me warm welcome.

BR, Vinay

Yesterday I got Astonia 300, new version. And hooked it to SA floorstanders. My impressons :

Looks and built : Its a compact design, takes less space on your rack. Minimal buttons on the front panel. Weighs just 3.5kgs, that's somewhat you will be worried, as good stereo amps have heavy transformers. The knobs are of average quality. overall 7/10 .

Performance : After hearing from Marantz/Rotel amps for over an year, I must say, very average, not at all comparable to high branded amps. Though it drives floorstanders, but SQ is not that pleasant. When volume is increased, we can hear the disturbed/distorted music. Not for serious stereo listeners. 6/10 for performance.

Connections : It has only two inputs CD or Aux. And one R/L output, can be connected to subwoofer.

Price : I paid 4100 on ebay, using my coupons. You get what you pay. But there are lot of Mosfet basic stereo amps in local market for lesser price, which are better than this amp.

Well, I have all along been generally hearing about excellent or great performance of Astonia amp in these forum. Now we are getting to hear another user experience to the contrary. Perhaps those praising the amp had perhaps done so keeping in view the VFM factor. perhaps this amp would suit those taking the first steps in the hifi world. i would also like to hear if anybody else has such opinion as Adarsh so that anybody who can afford little bit costlier amp can make an informed decision without basing it on price front only.

I recently purchased this for driving my DIY pvc pipe speakers, sound quality is good. maximum power handling is low, so i have to keep my volume knob around center or slightly higher.
Build quality is not good, power switch was faulty or damaged may be during transit, now amp is always on, power led is also slightly dislocated.
I also have denon 791 + wharf 9.5, so sound quality is around 50-60% (part of which is due to my cheap pvc speakers).
