Looking into design in general it is not worth. My cost prediction by seeing the stock photo is only 5 to 6K.

Regards

I am looking for something that is good in general audio sense, where I can put my TT also. On the other hand, I want it to be closed to protect equipment from dust, and my daughter. The top shelf for TT can be out in open.

Any suggestions for readymade or DIY? Budget is ~5k, but can be extended to 15k if something really awesome comes my way.

From the pic, the thickness of glass seems to be 10 mm, and the frames, I guess, are metal, and some acoustic feet or something - my mind is saying could be around 7-8k mark.

Verdict - You're being ripped off, don't buy it; get it done thru a carpenter lot, lot cheaper.

:)

within 5 k, i doubt. You have to run around to get the material, go to lathe, welder etc to get it done as per your liking. Your time, transportation cost etc should be taken into account.

One of my friend got it done through a well known person and the total cost was around Rs.9 K as per his design and spec.

Nazeer, the person you have referred, is he operating from thousand lights. Because I went saw the same model with a gentleman at thousand lights. IMO, it is not worth for 10K.

You may contact Mr Murthy, bangalore and see his rack, compare and then decide.

cheers

the above photo has a metal frame powder coated
the glass seems more like 12 mm

its not a bad effort at all from the pic

ofcourse close up pics would help us judge the finishing better
by finishing i mean the execution not the aesthetic finish

well glass and hollow metal , how that reats with music thats a different argument

but pricewise
theres no way you can make that at 5k unless you yourself can do the DIY completely
including proper location levelling welding/ bolting at 90degrees. and then too you may cross 5k

i was not going to comment on this thread but its just that
one should not be naive to think people dont want a profit when they put at effort to custom build something or build something which is not a qty production item

sometimes i get sad when i see posts wherein members comment on pricing in a certain tone ( either with distributers or retailers of certain products )

Now is it VFM for 10k ?
i cant really say till i have a look at the execution and materials

but if i have to guess
a 5 rack stand would probably stand at 4.5 feet or so
and if i were to guess the materials used i would say 8.5k would be a fair price

if you like the stand (require so many racks) and the seller will let it go for 8-8.5k then take it

do i like the stand- thats something else
Asit ji has a very good stand made of teak wood
now if you can get such a stand for 10-12 k - now theres a bargain!

i think gobble has a nice DIY stand too
see if you can execute that if you are a DIY guy

+ 1 to that, no one will make a rack for 5 k and sell it for 5 k. Overhead and cost of holding plays a role in fixing the price. If you the like the rack discuss with the seller and close the deal.
