I went to Reliance Digital today to get the Demo of home theatre systems. I had Yamaha YHT299 in my mind as I've read much praise about it here.
I played songs through aux cable and tried the 299, Denon x500 with denon's own speaker system, Pioneer's system ( don't remember the model, but it was really terrible), and Marantz NR1403 with BA XS 5.1 ch.
Now I heard the Marantz and BA the last and I couldn't believe my ears, the shear clarity bd loudness of those puny speakers. They definitely struck a cord. Now I also demoed Sony's top of the line Home theatre n9200w system as well but that too was enough for the Marantz BA combo.
Now the dilemma. Marantz Nr1403 is really expensive and a bit outdated as well Since it doesn't support 4K and no HDMI 2.0. Also it's expensive. Now I got a quote of 60K for this combo and I don't think the combo is gonna last long. Is this the best I can get for my money or Can I get more out of 50-60k. Any receiver that goes better with BA and costs less maybe?

BTW the pioneer was the worst, Denon x500 with those speakers wasn't any good either, but I was disappointed in yht299. The person there tried to make them sound better but couldn't.

There's a Pioneer VSX524 out there, haven't seen it, just searched about it, anyone?

Also if your hear felt the sound signature with Marantz + XS 5.1 sounded better, then go for it.... if budget is a constraint, hold your purchase, save it and go for it.

Hi

I used the BA 5.1 with Marantz 1402 and the experience was awesome......you can click on my user name and see related threads....

Check other dealers for BA 5.1 cube speakers....Soundware XS or S....difference in cube size....also check price for Marantz NR 1504 which will be between 32-34k.....

IMHO...you should get the BA 5.1 + Marantz 1504 within 50k - 60k....check with all available dealers....

All the best....

Other AVR options that work well with BA 5.1....Denon X500 or X510 or Pioneer 300 or 500 series AVRs

I heard from a dealer that BA 5.1 is no more available in the market. He wanted time until morrow to quote a price on 1504.

Any dealers in B'lore, you know who carry BA 5.1 in stocks?

Thanks a lot! The offer wasn't exactly an offer if the better model when paired costs the same! I'll search for more options. I intend to visit more stores in a few days.

Budget isn't a problem, it's the value for money thing. I just don't want to spend more if I can get the same experience for less, that's all.

Reliance Digital Gopalan Mall OMR is got XS5.1. Check out. Also HTstore JP nagar stock XS and S 5.1

The guy from HTStore JP Nagar, told me BA XS 5.1 is NOT available any more in the country. He said he had some 20 pieces a month back. Stocks have been exhausted.

Then if you have decided on XS 5.1, then you must hurry, check out in HiFi Mart online or Reliance Digital outlets in Blore. S 5.1 is also a good choice if you have the budget.

So Today I finally went and bought The Yamaha 299. I made this decision for a number of reasons
1. I went to Melody House, sec-17 Chandigarh for demo of Yamaha one as the shop was an authorised dealer. They had properly setup the home theatre in a room. I demoed a blu Ray and some different genre of music. I have to say I was impressed. Maybe the reason behind my bad experience at RD was that the system wasn't configured, also it wasn't setup, all the speakers were in one place only.

2. Availability of A Service Centre! This was an important point. There are no service centres for neither Marantz nor BA here in Chandigarh. I live in Patiala(Punjab) so this is the closest city that has the service. If God forbid something happens to the system, I won't make a 5-6hr trip just to get it repaired.

3. The combo was still there and I got the model no. wrong, it was 1504, the newer one. But they told me that the system won't come with cables. I'll have to buy them on my own, they didn't provide me with any. They even declined to send a person to setup the system and give demo at the house as well. This was going to be a big burden on me.

4. BA XS impressed me the first time, so I spent more time on those too today. More I listened to them, the more it came clear that they lacked in Mids very badly. This in then caused them to over exaggerate the Treble as well as the bass. The bass I loved, but the treble became more irritating as more time passed by. I admit that the have more clarity than any of the speakers I had demoed. But still this treble thing wrinkled the impression of the speakers.

5. Price, probably the last factor and not that important to me, but I did save about half Of my money by getting the Yamaha 299 @ 34k from Reliance Digital @ Elante Mall Chd only, rather than getting Marantz BA combo for 60k form the same store.

Ultimately I came to the conclusion that the Yamaha was a wiser choice in this case.
I'll probably setup the system tomorrow or day after and I'll post an update for the same.

:clapping:Great you purchased the Yamaha as opposed to the other HTIBs from sony, samsung,lg,etc. This is a really good package for the price and the fact that you get a powered subwoofer with it makes it easier to upgrade later when you feel the need. Also, post some pics when you set it up, Alternatively you can refer to the thread of more than 600+ posts about YHT-299 on this home theater section of the forum. http://www.hifivision.com/home-theater/48325-just-bought-yamaha-yht-299-a.html
CONGRATULATIONS

I am also impressed by BA soundaware xs 5.1, and would like to know whether it will pair better with DENON AVR-X1200W. Its time for me to upgrade from my old onkyo s3300, and dont want to miss atmos even it means an upgrade to speaker config in future. Will BA soundaware xs 5.1 pair well with Denon x1200w? I may add an additional pair of speakers from BA later, if possible a floor standing set and use these as surround/atmos speakers in future. Please share your thoughts

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
