AVR Shutting down - Denon

Hi,

I have Denon AVR 1508 and for the past few weeks, I face a strange problem. My AVR is shutting down automatically and if i turn on immediately it gets on, it displays AV Surround > Receiver > IN DVD/HDP and at this time it gets switched off. but if remove the power cord and leave it off for around 40min - 1hr..and then again i switch on, it plays for around 15-20mins and again it is shutting down. If i leave the receiver without playing anything for whole evening and night and then play the receiver next day morning, it plays without any problem around 45min - 1hr and afterwards it starts getting shutting down.

What could be the problem?

Most probably the AVR is overheating.....did u feel anything of the sort?

Ya..if the receiver plays for more then 45min..if feel some heat, if i touch the top panel...I wouldn't say that it is too hot...but i can feel the heat.

Which speaker are you using?If they dont match well with AVR,you may get problem.

What is the impedance of speakers? Is it less than 6 ohm?

might be going into "protection mode" to save speakers from damage? only way to track it is to connect sources one by one and then check which is the offending input.

Does it do this with nothing connected?

better to get the same checked up if its in warranty don't push the setup, yes it can be due to protection circuit coming on due to load or impedance issues, also can be due to heat or malfunction of some part which after certain period is faulting, also check the cabling just to ensure you don't have a cut or damage on the wiring.

My speaker imp is 8ohm, I didnt buy this in india so I dont think Profx can help me with this and also its been nearly 3yrs since I buy this AVR.

Since the AVR is bought from abroad, what is the voltage input?, if ur using Step up/down transformer ensure that is working properly, It is advisable to use a transformer twice the total consumption of AVR.

Also try with other speakers.

some thin is wrong somehere..u stated u leave it for night long it works for an hour.. strongly seems to be heat or overload issue..

isolate step by step..

try playing media with no speakers connected.. then one ,2 and go on and see how it responds..

You need to isolate where the issue is. disconnect everything except a DVD player and play for a while to see what happens. If its OK, connect one speaker and repeat. Then a second speaker etc. until you connect all of them. Do same iwth STB as well.

Note, dont push the AVR if its shutting of right away, you could easily blow your speakers.
