best bookshelf with Accuphase CDP & AMP

I agree...you cannot go wrong with the Harbeths.....

Is that so ?

I too had very high regard for the Harbeths;
However, my 'feelings' are mixed;

I have heard them play average & also heard them singing - so I am not so sure, I think Harbeths are very [very] front end dependent - they need the 'right' kind of electronics to make them come to life - imho.

Additionally depending on the speaker size they are quite sensitive to placement. I noticed that best performance placement-wise is significantly away from room corners.

Sir,
When have you listened to my speaker ?
[btw - it really is a great speaker - TAD i.e.] !!

I'd heard the origina Amea (not the diacera) at Tone of Music Audio in SF. Was paired with airtight monos and it sounded heavenly. Its just a bit out of my range :lol:. I'm guessing the diacera will be even better.

PS: I think the thread creator has disappeared.

Well all speakers have a tendency to sound average when playing with not so good electronics but with electronics like Accuphase and the musical preference of the thread initiator, I have no doubts that Harbeths would sing beautifully.

However if the OP likes to dissect the recording quality of the CD more than listening to music then I would recommend that he stay away from the Harbeths....
