Hi

Which would be the best soundbar plus subwoofer within 1.50 lakh. So far I heard the demo of Bose 600, JBL 9.1, Sony, Sonos Arc and B & W. Thank you.

Hello - Try Samsung Q series ones (around 1L). Surprisingly well reviewed and has really good sound and connectivity. Generally, it's said that separate components will give you better results - IMHO t sound bars have caught up and can give stiff fight to many similarly priced systems (unless they are professionally setup and tuned)

Samsung Q990D is one of the sound bars that has been topping the charts in all soundbar reviews. Check RTings, Andrew Robinson, etc.

1.50 lakh is a good budget for good surround speakers.
If you are not in a hurry and don't mind going the pre-owned route, then you can look for a decent avr and speakers in the classifieds section of Hifivision.
You can add the components in stages and it will sound way way better than any sound bar.

Thank you. Actually it for my daughter. Her Onkyo has given up after 11 years and she’s looking for soundbar option. As for me I am very happy with my Denon AVR with Jamo bookshelves and Yamaha active sub.

Thank you. I don’t know what IMHO t means. Please elaborate.

Don't buy a sound bar. You will have to buy it baar baar.
Buy an amplifier AVR with speakers and subwoofer.....yeh chalega jyada lambaa .
Thank you. I personally prefer pure audio set up. My daughter too likes it but she recently shifted and does not want too much wiring. Soundbar with sub is just plug and play. And she’s more for home theatre experience than audio. Therefore the option is limited to Soundbar.

Most welcome, then it's better to go with whatever she is comfortable with and keeps her happy :)

IHMO (In my humble opinion) :)
I am humbled. It took me long to figure out ATMOS (acronym for atmospheric effect). Ditto for many other technical terms used in this helpful forum. But I just know the sound effects of an audio system without going into the nitty gritty. I bought my first stereo system in 1978. Norge Amp, Sonidyne Tape Deck, Woodstock Floorstanding Speakers and Phillips HiFi Turntable. The sound was great. Even now for demo I play Fleetwood Mac’s Chain and Caravan by Doors. These two tracks can give you the entire gamut of frequencies.

Hi. I know this is not the answer you would be looking for, but it is "it depends on how you want to use it" Does you daughter want loud volume? streaming? vocal clarity? music or movies or both.

My first suggestion is going to be totally left field: buy an Apple TV and add 2 HomePods to it. This is what my daughter has. Once set up as a stereo pair, its simplicity itself to use and since Apple TV has ARC, anything you stream to your TV will play through the HomePod. Price - Apple TV 14-18k and 2 HomePods 60-64k. (plus if you get AppleCare then you have peace of mind for 2 years with a full replacement/repair warranty). with the money saved, you could buy her an iPad / iPhone (if she does not already have one) to make control even easier. As a bonus the PQ from Apple TV is far better

Soundwise, its WAAAAY better than the JBl 3.1. which I have for my mom's room Clarity, tonality and no "hole in mid bass/low mid" which is typical of soundbars". (I plan to sell that and get my mom the same setup). the only downside is that it cannot match the jbl 10" sub for sheer output, but in stereo it gets plenty loud in an 225sft. room)

any other suggestion would be based on your use case.

Thank you. She has an Apple TV and home pod (my gift). Both my daughter and SiL use pretty high volume for movies. The issue is her Onkyo 5.1 has outlived its performance and instead of going for assorted devices they are opting for Soundbar. I have suggested Sono Ark with Sonos Mini subwoofer and she will be auditioning B & W at a shop in Pune. I was also impressed with Bose 600 with Sub but Bose often has software issues. They say after 5 days of hard work this is the only ‘go to ‘ entertainment.

I hear you. Sound has to be experienced, and no amount of terminology will be sufficient to express it accurately and is not required to feel amazing sound. :)

Why not Samsung Q990D? One of the best Soundbars in terms of price/performance.
Hi thank you. 990c is shortlisted. I have heard Sonos Arc without subwoofer so I have asked to check out with sub. She liked the aesthetics of B& W but yet to check out the sound.

Hi

I came to Mumbai a week ago and spent Saturday and Sunday auditioning sound systems for my daughter. When I started this discussion I indicated a budget of 1.50 L for soundbar. Before we began our quest for the soundbar I wanted my daughter and son in law to experience audio set up of AVR, front, centre and back speakers. The issue as I mentioned elsewhere was the limitation of internal wiring of back speakers which was the pivotal reason for selecting a sound bar. I am giving a brief overview as under:

1. Maranz NR1510 with KEF T101 - 4 flat speakers, 1 centre and Polk HTS 10 Sub. The sound was outstanding for both audio experience and home theatre feel. The total cost was 2.05 L.
2. Polk TL1600 5.1 with Maranz NR 1510
Costing 1.05 L. Excellent sound and good aesthetics. The home theatre experience was also good but not in the league of KEF.
3. Soundbar Polk Magnify Max AX SR2 rear speakers. This was amazing for home theatre experience as well as audio. A demo at home is scheduled on 8.4.25. The cost is 1.38 L. Will give more details after home demo.
3. Bose New Smart Ultra Soundbar with flagship sub. This was different league. The home theatre experience was out of the world. The audio was excellent but not as great as KEF set up. The cost is 2.40 L. Way above budget but if one can afford it then this is a no brainer.
4. At Croma Phoenix Mall we heard Sonos Arc with SubMini and Sony Bravia Theatrebar 8 with its sub and rear speakers. Sonos was good but Sony was great. The spacial sound and distinct segregation of sound was the special feature of this system. Overall cost is 1.77 L. The only issue is that the system uses Sony TV audio output for centre speakers. One cannot be sure if it will work on other brand TVs. Both Sonos and Sony soundbar home demo is scheduled on 9.4.25.

I am going back to Delhi on 11.4.25. If required I can share the home demo experience. Personally I would go for Bose New Smart Ultra with surround speakers. My offer for funding the gap was politely declined by the kids.
