Hi,

I purchased Onkyo 609 receiver,PSB Image T6 floor standers and super cube 3 sub woofer.
I am looking for a good stereo setup.
Basically I like good clarity at less volume and good sound stage.
I was thinking of the following options.

My listening room is 20* 14 feet and it is not a dedicated room (not exactly regular shape) and it is living cum dining room of an apartment.

Option 1)
good integrated amp like NAD C375 BEEE or Anthem integrated 225.

Spec wise and by weight Anthem 225 is better than NAD C375. Only my worry is how well it pairs with PSB speakers. It is tough to have an audition in Bangalore for Anthem.

Option 2
buying NAD C 165BEE Stereo Preamplifier and Emotiva power amp XPA-2/ NAD C 275BEE power amp .
Option 2 is expensive than integrated amp NAD C375 BEEE or anthem 225.
But I thought the slight higher price and effort in bringing emotiva will be ok if there is big improvement in performance.

Option 3
getting USP-1 stereo amp with XPA2 from Emotiva.

It will be great if you can give me your valuable suggestion.

Best Regards

I have listened to option 1 with nad 375 and it sounds really really good.

What do you have for source ?

It never hurts to put better amplification on a speaker... but, as you go higher you will need all the links in the chain to be of the same caliber to make the most of it. Having said that, NAD + PSB is a proven combination and the C375 is a Stereophile Class A product, and it is a good amp despite the magazine rankings. If you feel that you will be upgrading from T6 in the future, then go for the Pre/Power, but, for the T6 even C356 is a sufficient amplifier.

Thanks for the reply. As of now no plans to upgrade from T6. Bought it three months back. :o

do you want strict 2 channel or do you think you need to add a subwoofer to the mix? Have you listened to the anthem? what is the price? any chances of getting it serviced here in India?

Hi,
For movies I am using Onkyo 609. At present I have T6 FS and super cube3 sub woofer. I have not listned to anthem and no idea about service.
I think there is a dealer in India , I think it is in Delhi. Price is more than NAD C375. But it is very heavy (kg). I saw some one mentioning it is neat to 1 L INR.

renjith, so you are finally settling for an alternate stereo set up now? :D

I guess after the Onkyo experience, it will be wise not buy blind. I am not sure if you would easily come across Anthem integrated amps. Saif from Uniquesys has sold Anthem amps (I had seen a boxed piece) but don''t think he has one for audition. Check with him nevertheless. I think 225 is the heaviest of the current Anthem integrated amps!

I would recommend NAD. Easy to audition and goes really well with PSB.

Yes,planning for a stereo amp.
No blind purchase now. I heard good reviews about Anthem 225. Some guys say that any day Anthem is better than NAD. Not sure need to verify.
I will check with Saif. Thanks for the info.
I need to do home audition and need to get convinced before buying.

I am also in the lookout for a stereo setup.

I am considering Roksan Kandy K2 integrated amp. I am planning to hear it side by side with Marantz this weekend pairing to Jamo C807 speakers.

Would like to know if you got any audition setup for Anthem 225. Got interested in Anthem for the great phono stage and the power.

-John.

I tried couple of dealer in Bangalore for Anthem 225. Unfortunately no one has it for audition. They said they can get it for me, but no audition. I wont buy any AV equipment without proper audition.

I am really looking forward for the following auditions this weekend

Roksan + Jamo C807, C809 and D590
Marantz + Jamo C807, C809 and D590

Both at Cinebels, Millers road.

Also if time permits the following

PSB + NAD
Paradigm + NAD

Both at Final Touch, Mission road.

-John.

Thanks John. Recently there was one Roksan Amp for sale from a forum member.
I think it is sold already. I like PSB T6 very much. Just go and listen and let me know your opinion.

Thanks
