Lets forget about the expert advice on the viewing distance to be maintained vs the size of lcd tv.

I want this poll to be answered by ONLY the people who have a viewing distance around 10 ft and who has 32'' or 40'' lcd tv.

Which size tv gives you pleasure of watching tv without feeling its big.
Did u feel like u are getting the entire picture viewable or do you have to
keep rotating your eyes to left and right to capture the entire screen.

Please observe that we are not looking for pixels or clarity.
we are looking for the best enjoyable and not straining viewing pleasure of hd lcd tv in tatasky connection.

Rate the best size tv for a 10ft distance.

1) 32''
2) 40''

I vote for 40, if 42" is available I will vote for 42",i am having a pana 42u20 lcd I am viewing it at 10 feet without any issues,.....no eye strain in dynamic mode also,i dont find any odd on eye movement like thing ,my uncle is viewing 47" in 12 feet distance though the room is 20 feet length he prefer 12 feet,he feels like he is missing some details when he moves further.bigger the screen is what I always prefer.

Ok I have the following 3 setups:

1) Samsung 32" LCD (purchase date 2007 January) 720p - Viewing Distance approx 9 feet
Observations:
- Using Tata Sky Plus through composite and PC through HDMI
- Pixels not visible
- 0 Strain on eye
- Text needs to be zoomed when I use it as computer monitor (text too small)
- Cant really enjoy HD in true sense as picture is too small to really appreciate 720p to its full potential at this distance

2) Panasonic 42X20D (Purchase Date January 2011) Viewing Distance approx 10 feet
- Using Airtel HD through HDMI and WDTV (no HTPC so far)
- I was pleasently surprised by Airtel quality (had heard nightmare stories about its quality)
- Picture is not grainy, but of course Airtel SD is not as sharp an image as HD
- Nat GEO is awesome
- WDTV is awesome with so much more clarity than my HTPC on 32", partly due to plasma colors and partly due to the fact that you can truly enjoy HD (720p) on a big screen

3) Optoma HD 66 with 84 inch screen (purchase date January 2011) Viewing Distance 10-11 Feet Source Airtel HD and WDTV
- 720p movies rock in this format with no problem whatsoever with screen size
- Watched Star Screen Awards partly on 42" Plasma and Partly on 84" screen and parents were blown away with Projector, they couldnt care less about Plasma after having cinematic experience on Projector
- Even SD movies on WDTV are not as badly pixelated as I had expected, yes they look less sharp, but they are still great to watch

In a nutshell, my suggestion would be go for the max size you can afford. At 720p resolutions at a distance of 10 feet you can safely accomodate 84" screen without any effects on your eyes, strain or lack of clarity. I plan to watch world cup etc purely on the projector in HD. At SDTV feeds that we have, 42" (Plasma) mind you still makes a compelling case, as unfortunately the LCD's suffer from pixelation due to slower response times and that pixelation is more evident in bigger size compared too smaller size. Thats just my 2 cents.

well for 10 feet 40" or 42" is the best with respect to viewing comfort.Do note it varies from person to person.

Eh?? I am watching 42" at a distance of 8 feet and there is no problem. At such distance, even 640 x 352 resolution movies look damn good. At 10 feet it will look even better.
I thought pleasure of watching TV is enhanced by big size. No???
Unless your TV is the size of a tennis court, your eyes will take in the entire picture in one view without having to move your eyeballs around like a peeping-tom.

For 10 feet distance definitely 40". Consider 50" also if you can afford it.

I just got a samsung D5000 40 inch. I am wondering what should be the ideal viewing distance. My room is not very big and is about 8 feet wide. Would that be enough to accomodate my tv.

40 inch at 8 feet away will be ideal and fantastic - for HD pictures.
