Bi-wiring improvement in audio

OK, I got driver configuration from Polk. They say that the config. of the TSi300 is M-T-W. So, 3 way it is.

Driver compliment is 1 Tweeter of 1" and 2 Mid/Woofer of 5-1/4". This can be a 2 Way, 2.5 Way or 3 Way. Unless the crossover circuit is evaluated one cannot say what has been implemented. But the website "Overview" of this model mention 3 Way.

If so, then the upper 5-1/4" woofer is dedicated as a Midrange on this model.

Since there are bi-wring terminals on the speaker,
1. connect the spk wires only to the HF terminals and see which drivers are active while playing a piece of known music. Hear it properly & note it in the brain.
2. Immediately, remove the connections to the LF terminals and see which drivers are active with the same section of the music playing.
3. If there is a clear frequencies differences between the upper woofer & lower woofer, then one behaves as Mid while other as Woofer. Hence, 3 Way.
4. If the frequencies differences are not prevailing, then its either a 2 way or 2.5 way.

Yeah .. Bi-wiring is like a two piece bikini :licklips:

So why is it not possible to bypass the Xover at all?

Move to active line level X-overs and then eliminate the passive cross-over sitting between amp and drivers, though you need a separate amp for each driver in that case, but the result would be spectacular and no amount of "Bandaid" passive cross-over can match an engineered active X-over.:D
