Black line across my screen?

I have just been given my friends old projector as he says it doesnt work but thats not entirely true..
It works fine except for the thick black line that runs across the center of the screen.

I would love to fix this as we cant afford to buy one of our own but if there is a solution to this that would be great.

If anyone can shed some light on this as to whats wrong and if it can be fixed i'd appreciate it.

Yes, please turn up with the particular model no. That will help the experts to revert back to you with relevance.

However, check if the VGA/HDMi, whatever cable you are using has not gone bad with broken connections/bent pins etc. You may also check without the cables in place to see if the home screen is displaying correctly. If the home screen/splash screen or menu is displayed fine, then we have a bad cable here & we sincerely hope that is the case.

Sorry, I should have mentioned the model!
Its a Samsung-SP-P400B

It's not the cable as I have displayed it without the cables in so in only power mode (so can just access menu options) and the black line is still there.

If it is in out of warranty,unscrew the unit cover and disconnect all the connecters.Clean the dust inside the unit and clean the circuit board and all using a brush.Reconnect the connecters and close the body cover,switch on the unit and check.It works fine then ok.If not bring it to the service personnel.Thanks!
