There are no region free bluray players. There are modification kits available for some bluray players. Region free Oppo80 bluray player was available for US$350 but I understand that Opp080 is being withdrawn. So if you can get an Oppo80 region free from a dealer you should get it before it disappears.

Not quite correct. Here are a few -

1) I have a Sherwood BDP-5004 bought in the US from Amazon. It is
a Momitsu 899 clone and is region-free for both Blu-ray and DVDs.

2) Walmart Canada $78 region-free Seiki BD660 -
[Elect] WM: SEIKI BD-Live Blu-Ray Player BD660 Now $78 - RedFlagDeals.com Forums
Seiki BD660 Wal-Mart Canada $88!!

3) Tevion BD region-free player sold in the UK (identical to Sherwood BDP-5004)
-
Tevion DVD1100UKT Multi-region Blu Ray player - AVForums.com - Page 2

The UK seems to be mecca for region-free players, with multiple
options, and pretty aggressive pricing too.

Limit BD-M100 -
HotUKDeals - Limit Blu-ray Player - Multiregion 49.99 @ HMV (instore only ) - Expired

HMV Maidston -
Exclusive review: HMV's Maidston Blu-ray player offers multi-region compatibility for 99 | Home Cinema Choice
HMV Maidston Region Free Blu Ray Player 59.99 UK / ?69.99 Ireland - Blu-ray Forum

Foehn & Hirsch -
HotUKDeals - Foehn & Hirsch Blu-Ray Player - Full 1080p, DTS-HD with USB Playback [Multiregion for blu-ray and Dvd] @ Ebuyer 57.99 (save 32) incl free del. - Expired

4) Australia Alure player $99 region free

I always felt that spending more than 10-15K on a player does not make sense. At these prices, it will be a much better idea to make a entry level HTPC with a Lite-On Blu-Ray player that is available in India for 6K. Get a ATI 5450 GPU, and you have one of the best players in the world.

Cheers

If you are looking for region free player, you have to remove the Sony. The Oppo and Pioneer can be hardware modded to be region free.

Another option to look for is the Dune BD Prime 3.0. It comes region free from the factory. The price is around 37K. BUT, it is also a media player and come with a 500GB hard disk.

Cheers

I suggest buy the Player and Mod Kit separately and install the modkit your self using the instructions provided with Mod kit. That way BDP-83 won't cross 28 to 30K. If your friend is bringing it for you why the customs charges 15000 again.
Better go for 83 if you can spend some extra bucks.

dear sir

sorry to ask this. is the dune bd prime 3.0, player region free in US
because i was thinking of getting it form US my brother is coming. because both the oppo (bdp-80 and bdp83) models are not available

Both Oppo are available in ebay.usa...However it is not available for direct buy from oppo...

Oppo-80 for $399
Oppo-83 for $699

Regards

Well someone has aready suggested another option to get 3 BDp with different region.(each cab be 7-10k,so total 30k)

no problem to buy this three bdp ,three zone ,but there power supply in 110v like USA , in India you buy another step down converter to play ,any other option to see world wide zone bluray disk:confused::confused::confused:

One step down connected to a switch board which connects to 3 BDps.
