There is a scarcity for 4K UHD player. The ones available are priced too much.

So ended up buying a PS5 which now serves dual purposes

Thanks

I've imported the renowned Panasonic UB820 when a dollar was 75 inr :p
Hi, I too am very much interested in buying the Pana UB820 blu-ray player, I would be really grateful if you can suggest me from where to buy. I checked in amazon UK/US but they don't deliver to India.

Import from US, feel free to message if you've any query or looking to get simple explanation of entire procedure.
I would've passed you mine as it has been lying idle from couple years but I like it there, a great show piece! even though I watch movie once in a blue moon :p

Hi,

Finding a 4K UHD Player is tricky. Six months back I called half of the Bangalore, and by the time I was calling the remaining half they were aware of me and my requirements 🤣🤣. But fortunately, one Sony Center agreed and arranged the Sony UBP-X700 in a week. But I had to follow up a lot on it.

Again if you only need to play CD or watch 4k UHD then region doesn't matter. But if you plan to run Bluray HD content or DVDs then the region will create a problem.

You can purchase the Universal version of Sony UBP-X700 from Amazon but it will be nearly double the price.
I got it for 27k from Sony Center, whereas online you will find the price to be between 30k to 40k.
So first check in offline stores. I think the MRP was 30k.

I went for this particular model because of the Dolby Vision support. Also, the reviews were mostly positive regarding the video output but most importantly for music CD output. It has only digital out either by HDMI or Coaxial. So while playing a CD it just acts as a CD transport, which is great.
The other Sony model UBP-X800 doesn't support Dolby Vision. Also, the local Sony centre mentioned it was discontinued, at least in India.

There were a few options of Panasonic 4k UHD players but as I was not getting any offline store for it so I stuck to Sony.

I have a few 4k Blurays discs, mostly bought from Amazon during sale or imported either from the UK or USA through friends and family. I am building it so my collection is not huge. For now, I have around 10-15 discs. But in music CD I have a decent collection of around 500+ CDs and again I am adding to it as and when I get something good.

I got a Panasonic one from Amazon but it was for US pin out. I wasn't sure of voltage support so returned and got one from Sony center. THey took a week to arrange one (UBP700).
Though there were reviews about it not reading many disks, i havent had much issues. If there are even minute dust on the disks, it gets stuck but when we wipe with soft cloth and play, it plays without issues.
