Borderlinx, Ebay, Paypal - The World IS A SMALLER PLACE

But i would like to know, having a direct payment through paypal to the dealer/seller is it safe (non-ebay or direct dealing with buyer or anyother mode)? What if i dont receive the items, can i claim back my money? If there is any time limit, within how many days should i file the claim?
Anyother risks to be looked into when paying through paypal directly?

Only eBay offers complete buyer protection. For other sites via PayPal, the amount is refunded only in case the seller does not ship the item. But if the item is defective or there are other issues, PayPal will not help. I am basing this on this thread in Head-Fi

What can be done if we do not receive the item:

I had purchased a boxed set of Bourne Blu-ray from Ebay USA, the seller had despatched (no tracking no as low cost postage) the item. I have not received it, these usually is received in 15 - 20 days. after about 20 days, I contacted the seller and asked him the trace the item, he said that it is initiated. still after 5 - 6 days no news ( the seller has >10000 +feedbacks), where can we complaint? whether it is gone from the customs, transit or local post? Is there a way ?

Yes, there is a way... You go to ebay, log in, and then leave a negative feedback. That will make the seller jump and take action on his end. Because, my friend, I can tell you that he definitely delayed sending the parcel...

Once you have the parcel in hand, you can decide to modify your feedback or not, depending on how satisfied you are.

In short, these guys are extremely sensitive about the feedback you will give: and will help!

Next, if you feel you have been cheated, and if you have paid thru paypal, then go to Paypal and you can start a refund process...

But my first suggestion is most viable for now....

Also, apologies for a late response as I had not seen activity on this thread (this thread has been put into the General Lounge, that I don't usually visit...)

No it wont.... this service is only for the Citibank customers.... you need to have a citibank credit card...

guys, wud my sbi debit card work with borderlynx/paypal?? i have a regular savings account.

Borderlinx - Only citibank cards
Paypal - any international credit cards (But not our sbi, hdfc - our indian banks which do say "international credit cards") (HSBC, Standard Chartered are some of them which can be used)

Can a Borderlinx Register user pay by other than citibank credit card ? Sometimes it happens that citibank card's limit is utilized to full extend, at such circumstance can we use other bank credit card ?

Hi All,

I am having a problem in paying through paypal. Can somebody help me with the payment procedure using paypal. I am trying to pay for a merchant in US, using a citibank Credit card which is registered with my paypal account. As my paypal a/c had been registered with an Indian Address, while I am checking out I am getting an error message.

I provided my Borderlinx address as the shipment address for the product in the merchant's site. While checking-out the product, I chosen Paypal as the channel for payment, it directed to the paypal homepage. Once I log-in onto the page it says 'PayPal does not allow your country of residence to deliver to the country you wish to' Can somebody please help me, how to proceed with this transaction.

An early response in this regard is truely appriciated !! Thanks

Hi sagar,

Hi

I just had my Arcam A38 delivered through Borderlinx. Bought the amp for $1266 including local shipping of $35 on eBay. Seller provided me with lower value invoice of $376. Saved on customs duty. Below are the transaction costs:

Total weight to be shipped: 12.46 kg
Total duty: $ 40.61 INR 1867.60 ( the invoice value was $376 and not $1266 that i paid)
Total tax: $ 55.84 INR 2568.00
Shipping: $ 98.75 INR 4541.38
Fuel surcharge: $ 7.40 INR 340.60
Total: $ 202.60 INR 9317.59

Totally I paid about 68k for the demo piece of Arcam A38.

I had instructed the seller to send me a lower value invoice and which he willingly obliged. I also instructed the seller that nowhere on the box or in the box the true purchase value should be reflected. This is because Borderlinx opens the box to check the condition of goods shipped.

I also faced a problem in the sense that the shipper did not correctly reflect my suite number on the items being shipped. The seller through the tracking number confirmed that the goods had been delivered but since the suite number was not completely mentioned the shipment was not credited to my suite. I quickly got in touch with borderlinx through chat and they were able to track the shipment once I had provided them with the Fedex tracking number that the seller had provided.

Borderlinx is a great service. I approved the shipping on 24th Sept and the goods got delivered on October 1st morning.

I hope to buy my next purchase of an Arcam CD player through Borderlinx.

Can anyone let me know what is the fee charged by paypal if:

Sender: Sends from credit card/ bank payment (not sure though) (US/ UK) to receiver paypal account.
Reciever: Receives at paypal account and then need to transfer to indian bank account.
Is there any minimum account need to be accumulated in paypal account after which it need to be transfered to indian bank account? Or even $20 or so can be transferred?
Has anyone transferred amounts? Please do specify the information which will be useful.

I just got a belkin 6 way surge protector (lifetime warranty) from ebay.in and the seller did not send any invoice/bill. (Usually i get atleast a document invoice/bill from seller for my purchase). When i checked with him he says, this will be entertained in service centers even without a bill/invoice. I wonder how will the service center accept if there is no proof of purchase? (The belkin package do show kinda advertisement that "life time warranty")
Can anyone let me know, what is the next step to be followed with seller? (The package was done perfect and reached in fast shipping mode, just 1 day. I have still not given feedback rating to the seller)

+1 to borderlinx, received my Onkyo TX-NR5007 in effectively 3 working days from the US, excellent customer support, 7 stars :clapping:

Was there any difference in the total cost calculation shown by the calculator on website and actuals? Especially the customs duty which appears to be too low with Borderlinx

Foe Sgmane:
This is what the Paypal UK website says:
Selling something
Small fee - PayPal charges sellers a fee of between 1.4% and 3.4% on the total sale amount plus a 20p per transaction. The fee depends on how much you sell so the more you sell, the less you pay. See full breakdown of seller fees for discounted rates and other pricing information.

Selling something: Starts at 3.4% of total amount plus 20p per transaction. Discounted Merchant Rate:As low as 1.4% + 20p based on volume of sales or invoices. Discounted Rate for eligible nonprofits:Flat rate of 1.4% + 20p. International sales:Additional charges apply for currency conversion and cross border payments.

Transferring money
Usually Free - Sending money to friends and family in the UK is free for you and the recipient when you fund the transfer with your bank account or PayPal balance. You can also use a debit or credit card or make an international transfer for a small fee.

Transferring money in the UK:Free when you use your bank account or PayPal balance to send the money. Debit/credit card fee:3.4% of total amount sent plus 20p per transaction (the sender decides who pays this fee). Transferring money outside the UK:Small cross border fee of between 0.4% to 1.5% (depending on where youre sending the money). A transaction fee of 3.4% + 20p will also apply if you use a debit or credit card to send the money.
