Bought LG 47LD650 - Initial impressions and an issue...

Hey guys,
I finally bought my TV earlier this week, in fact have had it since Wednesday. While this is not a review, I really like the blackness level. Initially, after reading up on IPS VS PVA, here and on other sites, I was afraid the blacks would be washed out, or lacking detail.
IMO I have seen better on some Samsung TVs, but this isn't noticeable unless they're side by side, or if you've just watched the same movie on a Samsung. Blackness levels are really nice, decent shadow detail (which I never thought I'd get), and really sweet colour, with very decent (though not excellent) viewing angles.

What I really like, is the upscaling quality, even a 640x260-res movie, looks pretty decent, at a distance of around 7-8 feet. I'm surprised, truly. It seems upscaling on LG TVs has improved since the LH35 and Jazz that I had checked in 2008/2009.

Also NO backlight bleed from this panel.

But I have an issue. On the left side (especially near the bottom) and a bit on the right side, there is play between the panel and the bezel, and I noticed this when wiping the TV. On the left side, I'd say this play was around 4mm and maybe 3 mm on the right side. On the whole of the top and bottom, it's a snug fit. However, there's no backlight bleeding whatsoever. I even too a pic of a dark screen with the panel on. Is this normal?

I have called an LG service engineer to check up on this.
More updates will follow, and eventually I will put up a review.

BTW, when playing MP4 files through USB, there's no sound. I get a message saying "cannot process audio". Why? MKV and AVI files work fine. Not tried 1080p content yet.

hi, I also got lg 47 ld650 and observed 3mm gap at top of the penal. But the picture quality is good. Kindly post picture settings for this set

^By play I mean a slight gap. It's not that there is a gap. If I press the panel at the left and right sides, it moves inwards, meaning it's slightly loose in the mounting/frame. The LG engineer came and told me this was normal.

He said, if I tried this with any panel with LG, Samsung, or anything else, I'd find the same thing, and this is not a defect. Am noticing no issues other than this, but still not sure what to make of it.

Ajay, I'm using backlight 65, contrast 65, brightness 55, and colour 62. Not done any advanced fiddling as of yet.
