Build new HTS

Hi,

After recently purchasing LG 47LA6910 3D TV, I am planning to build my dream Home theater for which i need all your inputs

My plan is to do it in phases-Buy AVR first, then front speakers later extend to surround speakers.

The Hall size is aprox 20*14 in 2nd floor, cannot do much for acoustics.
My interest is 70% movies, 20% TV and 10% music.
My budget for AVR is Max of 50,000/,
I have not shortlisted anything, so all suggestions are welcome.

Hi... I was forced to be inactive for short period due to a family function and now i am fast tracking my search for AVR

I made short visit to profx at Bangalore and had brief audition of Denon AVRx1000 with polk speakers(TSx 440 towers)..It was very short and did not compare with other set up, so difficult to opine but movie experience was very good.

Now i need your guidence

1. Denonx1000 vs x2000--which one to go?
major diff is video upscaling, even though i watch most of TV using this set up, does this feature really works???

price quoted is 35788 and 48668 respectively..is it correct or any body has got for lesser price???

also please suggest other AVRs i can look in this price range

Hi this is the place i am planning to have my Home theatre





I need help in selecting speakers

I am interested in floor standing speakers but i plan to place speakers on my wooden platform on either side of my tv,can this placement affects the quality of sound since platform is 18 inches above ground level ?? does it have vibration?

Please give your opinion and also list of Speakers

Ideally, it should be placed on ground. If you have no other option, you set your front speakers as Small in the AVR and then it will not vibrate. Drive the low frequency through LFE in sub woofer. That needs to be placed on ground only.

What will you do about that light from backside? I am not sure about the layout of your room for an HT.

Looks like there is a open staircase on the left of your tv. If so, how are you planning to cover it?

Yes you are right...it is not exactly dedicated HT room with all acoustics..it is hall in 2nd floor exclusively for us while on 1st floor we have general hall with TV.

In future i might consider a glass or any other partition to make it closed HTS just like demo room in showrooms

Last week on 28/08/13 i purchased Danon X-1000 with Dali Zensor series 7
5.1 pkg.....Its Great pleasure & satisfaction to watch movies as well as for listening stereo on the same...you can try Dali zensor 5 FS(Rs,15000/- less than 7) is also award winning speakers.I wanted Little more sound stage /bass for stereo so i went with Zensor 7...believe me i am extreemly happy.This is my personal opinion...

While Purchasing Avr I was also confused between Denon x-1000 & X-2000 for the same video upscaling function...but after some discussion with few dealers i recieved information that only upscaling features(it will not make major difference in upscaling) will not make Major quality difference n video as there is Rs 13,000/- Price difference which is huge & not worth only for upscaling, but if you are intrerted in few other Features Like 4K video pass through/4K & 1080P Upscaling/7.1 channel/Analog to Hdmi Upscaling/Multi zone multi Sorce/ than you should try X-2000...
But i was not intrested in those extra features so i went with X-1000...

I paid Rs. 32,500/- For the X-1000(Mrp was 38,900) with bill & warrenty from authorised dealer...Now price is alredy increased from 1/09/13 &
New Mrp is 41,900/-..... from 1/09/2013...

yesterday after your reply i spoke to profx guys and they said now MRP is 45900/. and they can not offer their earlier quote of rs 35788/. so i got depressed since i missed the chance. later evening i remebered mr lokesh from The home theatre store at bangalore and enquired about AVR. he also told that prices have gone up and quickly added that he had 2 no and willing to sell at old price. i just seized the chance and immediately transferred the money and got DENON AVR X1000 delivered yesterday night itself!!! finally price paid is Rs 34000/. with Bill and warranty..Once again thanks for your info.

Now with avr shopping over, i need quickly buy speakers before ganesha comes home!!!

My doubts are...should i go for floor standers, centre and surround ??? or all 4 bookshelf speakers??? please note i have Polk subwoofer with me already.

also which is best around price of 30000/.( i can add center and surrounds a month or 2 later also if budget is less for decent speakers)..

@rjb is it possible to share split price for your dali speakers??

As rjg posted, prices will go up soon because of the weak rupee, so do your homework quickly. Plan your budget to include a decent powered subwoofer as well.

Hi, don't know about polk audio tsx series much but earlier i was usingDenon 1713, polk audio tsi 300 /100/cs10 with polk sub psw 110 and quite happy with their performance.
If movies is your first choice than i would strongly recommend polk speakers..they are ment for movies IMO.

However, if you are interested in preowned than i have dali concept 5.0 SPEAKERS with polk sub which i will soon put for sale in forum ...if interested plz let me know..

problem is Polks are out of stock..not finding them any where in Bangalore..I am not sure whether stock out or created scarcity to mark money by dealership..any other good suggestions..I am very serious to buy at least floor standers by tomorrow..

Hi, I'm looking to buy the Denon x1000 and I got the same quote for Rs.45,900 from ProFx here in Bangalore. Can you please share where you bought your AVR from? Also, you seem to have negotiated a discount of 6,400 on the MRP. Did you have to bargain for this? Was this the price the dealer quoted to you for the AVR? Or did he reduce because of the awesome speaker package? Thanks in advance for the help!

I did not bargain but got them for old price from Mr Lokesh 9845545429 The home theatre store, Bangalore who had stock of 2 no denon x1000. You can call and take the other piece if still available from him.
