Esteemed members,
Any experience with Burmester equipment. What are your opinions on the sound? Never really listened to them critically, only at audio shows. There is a Indian dealer in Mumbai.
Cheers,
Sid

Jeff Dorgay rates them very highly. He thinks they are pretty much the best he has heard. I heard them at length with the Acapella Violins a few years back. Did not work with them as it sounded very damped. The Einsteins with the Acapellas was very very good. My gut feel is the Burmester will work very well with speakers that require high damping factor. I am talking about their amps only. I have not heard the rest of their stuff

Thanks Prem. My impression a few years back listening to a whole setup including speakers was precise, highly resolved, but kind of dry. I am considering their classic series 035 pre specifically, wondering how it will mate with my Symphonic line Rg7:).
Cheers
Sid

Hi Sidvee

Yes because of the high damping, they can sound dry with the wrong speakers. Without a doubt their resolution is top class. But these things can be pretty much taken for granted with the Burmester. At that level, the synergy matters more.

Prem, heard the Acapella's with Zanden everything and it was a world apart. One of the best systems I have heard till date. Sadly not at all affordable to mere mortals unless you win KBC or raid a bank!

Yes Prithvi. The ion tweeter is something else only. If not for Kara suggesting the Rethm Seconds, i would have purchased the Acapella Violins.
