It has been a while since I sourced for a new mattress. Couple of years back there was not too many brands and not many choices. When I went shopping for buying a new mattress I found the choice is too much and got confused between memory foam, spring coil mattress, spine guard mattress, natural latex etc...etc....When we shop for some electronic atleast we hear and see and decide. Here it is difficult since we need to sleep and check if the mattress is good enough and that is difficult in a mattress showroom.

I always thought when sleeping in star hotels the mattress there looks so comfortable and wanted to buy the same for home. I figured out a brand Snoozer which it seems is used by most of the star hotels. So if any one is using this brand please comment if it is worth to buy. I checked out one of their Ortho firm spring mattress and it looked very comfortable. If anyone had used this before how long would it last? Is it safe to buy and does it give good back support on the long term? Should I also see any other brand.

My budget is around 35K. Please let me know.

I travel a lot and find the mattress in even the star hotels one of the most uncomfortable. They are good for a couple of days but when I stay for over a week, I end up with back ache or stiff neck.
I like simple coir based hard mattresses. (I feel that the worst thing that people do is use mattresses for well over their useful life.)

Coir based mattress are good but only problem they tend to get stiff over a period of time but agreed they are more comfortable than other mattress but need to change it in couple of years. Yes, we tend to use the mattress for a very long period and only when we get stiff back we realize that something is wrong with the mattress. Marriot in Mumbai has the best mattress that I have ever slept in star hotels. They told that it is half filled with geese feather and is made to order and each costs upwards Rs.2lakhs.

I think these hard and super soft mattresses are over hyped. Both force the body into unnatural positions..I had done some research a while ago and found that something that is balanced is the best approach. It is also very personal..you need to try it out and figure out what suits you.

I personally like pocketed springs rather than the bonnel veriety. I am a side sleeper so a slightly softer design works. If you are a back sleeper, something harder might work better..

+1 for Snoozer. Been using it for over a year, just the right amount of firmness and support. Snoozer are pocket spring type, which are better compared to bonnel.

Coir ones start to sag within 6 months.

The trick with coir reinforced with foam( according to a friend (who manufactures them) is to turn them over periodically to prolong the life. I've had issues with my back for the last 35 + years and find that I can't sleep on mattresses that dont give back support. While travelling overseas I don't hesitate to sleep on the carpeted floor, because their spring mattresses are impossible to sleep on. On a recent visit to Istanbul I stayed a week at the W, and was reading in their house magazine about their "signature" beds which cost and arm and a leg-but I just couldnt use them!

Went ahead and bought snoozer posture care mattress and got delivered couple of day's back. The product as of now is very good and gives good support for back. It is firm and soft, balanced very well and certainly not like the normal spring mattress.
