My 55" LG W5700 is not turning ON but the red light is blinking and also my brothers LG TV also having the same problem both the TV's were bought in few months difference, some of the TV technician say that in LG TV's they have timer system (as in projectors) the shut down after some say 5000 hours of viewing..is that true ?
My brothers TV went down some days earlier and the service center LG said
that they have to change the mother board for the TV..
Any members face the same problem any remedies ?

I had doubt but now it seems that 'planned obsolescence' is a harsh reality.:mad::mad:

I too had the suspicion that this has become the trend. I no longer buy mobiles priced more than 15K. I know I will be buying it soon again.
We look up to the west and we see intellectual cons everywhere.

Even if gadgets last, they still become obsolete because of new formats.

Both my AVRs don't do Atmos or DTS X and even my smart TVs don't to HEVC and HDR. But going on 3-6 years they still work great without any issues. Of course there is always a workaround like having an external device do the decoding, but a single box solution is lost and you need to either keep adding more gadgets or go the PC route eventually.

Society and commercialism has evolved to the point where you are forced to upgrade every 3-4 years. No other way about it.

It's not so much an issue in some countries like US. I was using Vizio there and they have excellent and budget friendly TVs there. Not so much in the east which is where the actual technology advancements are made.

Hello members..
Both the TV's were repaired for 9100/- by LG Service center and returned back in 2 days ???
Fingers crossed..

Hi

Hope it works now for a good amount of time. If you are planning to ever upgrade any electrical component, be sure first to check all its specs and warranty....no point for buying the most expensive stuff as most of it is made in China and not Japan which used better skills and parts......

The question you need to ask yourself before any purchase is that do you need to upgrade and will you be using all the features given that most of us are so busy with work hours, family priorities etc.....
