A warm hello to everyone, happy to post again after a long gap(think 1 1/2 yrs)

I am more into music than movies hence I started looking for ways to enhance my listening experience that's when I learned about bit rates and how it affects. From majority of the online resources I find 24bits is a pleasure to listen than 16bits (I also found some forum which disagrees to it). When I planned to buy 24bits audio I only get in FLAC format ( my player do not support).

So my question to the dear forum members is " I have Denon AVR 1509 paired with Denon DBP 1611 UD(Denon spec says "High quality 24-bit/192kHz audio digital to analog converter" )" are these (AVR or Blu ray player) capable of up scaling audio to 24bits or I have no option other than buying 24bits audio disks?

Many thanks in advance for your useful advise:)

Sample rates and bits is not the same thing.

If you think that sampling leaves "gaps" in the music, then a higher sample rate is equal to smaller gaps (and a frequency range which is greater than humans can hear). interpolating samples to make those "gaps" smaller could never be the same as recording at a higher sample rate, so, given that you can hear the difference, 24/96 recorded music would be the choice, rather than scaling up. Also, supposing that you can hear/experience sound over 20khz, 16/41 recordings do not contain any, so scaling up cannot create it.

Increasing bit depth gives you greater dynamic range, the range between silent and loudest.

Hello Thad, thanks to you. Somewhere I found that my player can auto upscale to 24bits.

I am downloading 24bits from hdtracks, will try and post my feedback on the respective thread..

Cheers!
