Mini Chennai Meet
Capt.Rajesh has got his Cayin TA30 which was tested with my Thiels last week end and it has come out with glorious performance.
This week myself, Rajiv visited Captn.Rajesh house for auditioning and tweaking the Amplifier since Rajesh told it is not matching with his Cadence speakers and he is not happy with the performance. Somehow I thought it is going to be an tube rolling session but ended with cable rolling session.:beer:
We started the session at evening 3PM. It is worth to point out at this time that i have bunch of speaker cables of different brands which is under testing in my system since i am an strong believer that cable do change the sound signature and improve or decrease the performance.
1st Session went on with chain consists of Cayin TA30 / Acoustic Portrait DAC / Marantz CD player / Cadence speaker with $1000 Straight wire cable. We started with the song from ABBA & tamil regional song from movie Rythm. We found the sound was harsh and full forward with no imaging. Staraightwire cable behaved like throwing everything in your face. No synergy between cable and the system and we are disappointed.:sad:
Before starting of second session, due to announced powercut and we had a nice chat for 2 hours about various topics and could learn a lot from Mr.Rajiv.:signthankspin:
2nd Session , we decided to stick on to one song with the tamil regional one from Rythm which has good high/low/tiny details which can be heard only in good system. This time we changed the cables to Einstien cables which i got from Dr.Bass. Once we played the song there is 100% turnaround from the earlier cable used. WOW....All the details were clear, low/high/music details/imaging everything is perfect for tube based system.:licklips:
3rd Session, with change in cable to Naim NAC5 with the same song played the details were clear but the imaging was lost, but the song was melodious. ( I have to hear this cable once again, since on my return to house i find one of the connection from banana cable is loose )
4th Session, we changed to my fancy Chinese Choseal Speaker Cable - Wow it is also brilliantly given all the details of the music and not upto the Einstein cable and it come out with flying colors and stand next to Einstien cable for appreciation.
5th Session, we change to old flat Audioquest cable which rajesh had in stock. With playing the same song it worked out to much extent but it was little bit harsh and it was not giving much details which is present in the song.
6th Session, we changed to Audioart speaker cables which Rajesh is having as backup cable to Straight wire and it worked really well and it is giving all the high/lows/bass/imaging well, but it sounded like digital sound not like tube and this could be one which can suit the guys with digital taste. Yes of course Rajesh like this very much.
7th Session - Ok we want to wrap the session at almost 7Pm by playing the same tamil regional song + Abba with Einstien cable to conclude. Yes this cable performed very well with imaging and giving very good details present in the song with good high and lows.
However we have heard earlier setup of Rajesh with acoustic pre/power/ DAC + Class D power amp. That time there is an 3D imaging present on the song played and there is some good highs are there on the music which is now lost and rolled off.
Best of luck to Rajesh for his Pass F5 turbo and hope that project will end soon and it will suit his system with an Lyrita Pre, so that i will try to grab his Cayin TA30
