Choosing centre channel speaker

Practically the center channel speaker must be the biggest or same as your l/r. if your L/R is three way then center channel must be three way.
Don't buy puny center channel because down the line you will be replacing. I'm telling from my experience.

dali opticon 2 is 2 way what now?
Centre channel Not necessary to be three way. I had a 3 way monitor audio tower matched by 2 way centre (its the default choice by the brand itself). No worries on that. But changing brand 'NO NO'
You wont know the difference until you hear it back to back but its a night and day.
Infact my next upgrade going to choose centre first and then the towers and then the AVR.
I have monitor audio silver centre now paired with polk r700 towers (earlier it was monitor audio silver towers). Though denon matched it for timbre the difference of listening polk r700 with its r400 centre is totally on a different level.
And if i pair the silver centee with silver tower its better than the mix and match.
If natural tonality of the speakers differ than the system(denon) matches all speaker to the least capable speaker- meaning if centre is weaker than tower than towers tonality is downgraded to match and vise versa.
But when listening to 2 channel their potential opens up.
So better stick to same brand and model too

I have Polk rti a9 as L/R and csia6 as center. They are from same series. But I'm not happy with center. Because it's small.. We all know that the most important speaker is the center only (ofcourse for movies only).

Now the problem is, there is no bigger center in that rti series. Then definitely I need to look in other brands. Therefore I'm looking for emotiva xc3.
