Coloured Vinyl

Ya vinyls.. and what are flexi discs ??

Flexi discs are records with flexible plastic surface. They are thinner than regular vinyls and can be folded like paper. They were popular in Russia and i have also seen one from India (i think some R D Burman movie from late 70s or early 80s - red flexi disc). I will post an image for more clarity.

I do have some Beatles coloured LPs and a few more. One of them is white and a green one of a singer whose name is also Green. Peter Green

A few years ago I picked up in the US, a blue vinyl copy of an obscure indie folk band called Circulus. The album, "Clocks are like people" is a gem, a genuine hark back to 70s sounds, yet never derivative or simply "copying" the old style.

Other than that I have a cherished "holographic picture disc" copy of the 1979 Split Enz classic album "True Colours". Never noticed any drop in quality though - I've owned this LP for a good 10 years and played it to death

Yes, Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac. His guitar work is amazing on this album. The title of the album is In the skies.

Bumping an old thread.

The first coloured LP in the Indian industry (& music) was for the soundtrack of 'Amar Akbar Anthony' released in 1977 by Polydor India with some technical assistance from its German arm. The colour was Pink!

Will post the pictures & the source of information soon.

i have one cannibal corpse LP which is milk white in color - often tempt to throw red in it :)

then a darkthrone Lp which is transparent blood red.. i think the cradle of filth LP too is colored. but dont remember exactly..

Posting the pictures of the inner sleeve of the first Indian coloured vinyl record by Polydor India. Its the soundtrack of the movie: Amar Akbar Anthony in the year 1977. I did not know this myself until a couple of days back, until I pulled up this unused record sleeve out of its cover.

Nice! You have a precious piece of history in you collection! :clapping: Btw the plant behind your TT really looks nice. Makes the entire setup really pleasant and beautiful!

Here's a picture disc I have..The last 4 Iron Maiden albums have only been released on picture discs! Even though this recent ones' quality is better than most pic. discs, i don't know why they can't release it on a standard black wax..

Which Darkthrone album do you have on vinyl? Reissue or original?

Ah...that plant; its artificial! Actually I have my LCD wall mounted right above the TT. That plant hides the cables going to the tv.:)

BTW, nice disks you have there. Do these picture disks have marks for separate tracks like regular black disks?

Oh that's a nice way to hide wires :D

Picture discs are made by sandwiching printed paper layer between the vinyls..and then grooves are pressed. The grooves are marked just like a regular vinyl..and yes you can see the starting of a track.

@peace sells : That is one insane insane collection!! Autopsy, Cynic, Cryptopsy, Megadeth even Mastodon!! I am lost for words.. how did you find these gems? specially Autopsy! Simply awesome!

Cheers

Saket: Thanks a lot for the info. I normally change the default sleeve with a better plastic sleeve after first washing of the record but keep the original sleeve in the cover along with the new one(specially if something is written on the sleeve). So never read this sleeve completely b4 your post.:p

Even the record cover was also very interesting. The record shaped picture pages are one of its kind. Overall a very nice packaging.

And here is our very own "JALPARI"

So whatever is told about Pic dics that they are for display purpose only and not meant to play is correct or no?
