I have used NAD (50w per channel @ 8 ohms) and Cambridge audio (35w per channel @ 8 ohms) amp with Elac Debut B5. Both were able to drive these speakers comfortably even when the sensitivity of Elac B5 is 85db. Nad was a slight better performer because of the wattage and dynamics. If you are looking for budget deals then Marantz will be best suited just look for specs compatibility. The Indian company "Norge" also make budget amps. There is also one more Indian brand "DNM" but I am not sure about it's sound dynamics.

@shammidang
After going through your posts I also decided to go for Norge amp and I will be pairing it with elac b5.2 speakers. Both the above amp and speakers are supposed to be neutral sounding and i also read that you use your Norge mostly paired with the Evo 4.1. Any particular reason for this pairing? Could the tone controls on the Norge not modify the sound on the elac b5 as per your taste? I ask this because i want to spend prudently before i go for another pair of speakers in the future from warfedale or Q acoustics. Thanks

Good choice. As I see you stay in Delhi you can audition the Norge amp at Noida dealership if it is there. That way you can have the choice of the amp model you want to buy. Just call up Norge no. (or) what's app and check with them if Noida dealer is still active. As their website is not updated regularly there is no point taking a chance to travel to Noida. The Elac b5's that I have is the first model and has a warm sound signature but other tones are not compromised in any way. I presume The b5.2 will be on the same lines and right now there are some good discounts going on as Elac 2.0 due to launch of 3.0 series. As per my observation Elac's produces more bass then the Wharfedale's and this can be important for many.

The reason for using Wharfedale evo4.1 with Norge is simply that I like more mids and wharfs are mid oriented speakers. These speakers are also from a high price bracket and down ported so I do not need lot of space from the back wall. I also use a Acoustic portrait tube buffer before the amp and with this combo the wharfs are a much better match. I mostly listen at flat setting as generally the source input I use is of decent qlty and moreover I am used to listening at Flat setting.

The choice of Norge model is entirely to your liking. The Model 2060 is also a very capable amp and it is slightly less priced then the concerto gold 1000. Just do not buy any of their model with that built in mp3, bluetooth module, it is crap. If you have any future requirement you can invest in an proper external dac. Just go for pure analog amplifier. Try to take audition if possible and also listen to their new millenium MK II speakers, those are really good and matched well with their amps (2060 & concerto gold 100). I will leave a you tube link, a guy has just made a video on these speakers, one can say a rare video.

So all the best.

Thank you very much for your reply. I am mostly into melodiouy hindi songs and Jagjit Singh and also Gurubani. In your opinion will the elacs 5.2 (or b6.2) serve me well in genres mentioned above or I should skip elac and go for the Q acoustic 3030i?

That is a hard one to reply. I think if you can audition at some outlet or friends place then it will be best. As I do not have exact idea on tonal quality of Elac b5.2/b6.2 or Q acoustic 3030i, it will not be right to give my opinion. With your choice of music genres you cannot go wrong on the Norge amp, just choose the right powered model based on your room size and requirement, they have same preamp in all their top line models so the basic difference is the power supply and main power amp optimization. The match of speakers with the amp is purely based on your own listening experience and liking, one cannot rely on others opinion, be it me or best you tuber of the world. Your own eras are your best judge in this matter.

I really appreciate your valuable reply. I will go for the Concerto 1000 as the living room size is 20 x 12 feet. I will try to audition the elac and Q acoustic speakers which should be easier to do than auditioning the Norge New Millennium ii speakers due to limited availability. I will check with the Noida dealer first. 🙏🏻

There is a bengali guys who has done a written review on mouthshut. Try to read his review on Norge amplifiers. It is old review and he has given name of some imported mid-budget speaker brands that can give you a guideline to audition those brands current line of speakers and decide. Few that I remember is Dali, Elac debut series. If possible also try to audition that Norge speaker model (Millenium II).
