Hi Everyone,

I am a newbie in home theater systems. My budget is ~15k. Kinda confused between Philips HTS5520/94 and Sony DAV-TZ215. Philips seems to have extra features and the audio in port to hook in TV or laptop and it has support for AVI format. I would use for music and movies mostly and in the near future, I have plans to buy HD television, so i wanna choose accordingly. Read some reviews on the net, most people have recommended Sony for its sound quality.

Could you please recommend which one to choose or is there any good one out there for this price.

Thanks in advance!

At 20K you can get Yamaha YHT series, way better than the philips and sony and you will get more connectivity options that both of these. At 25K range you can get Onkyo 3400 or Harmon Kardon Cinesystem series.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will check it out. YHT-196 seems to be available around 20k. A hell of a lot connectivity options :)

As Sam suggested, it would be better to go with the Yamaha HTIB or Onkyo3400. The sound quality will not match to those philips or sony htib.:licklips:

Please do not go for DVD Home Theater System...You will regret it some day.....the system is totally useless once the DVD player stops working...

Agreed :) Planning to buy yamaha YHT-196, yet to go for a demo.

Also could you guys pls suggest which one is the best dvd/blue ray player to pair up?
