Hi Experts,

I got a deal for a demo unit of Denon X2500H for 50k. The dealer is claiming that it has only cosmetic damages but works flowlessly. I know him for sometime so trust him. In your experience, is this something I should go for? If yes then what are things I should ask him?

Just check the actual selling price with some other seller then calculate the difference . If it is more than 25-30 % ( total 40 - 45% on mrp) with regular warranty offer by manufacturer is available then you may go for it. Make sure to check all future and function are operational. Take your own time for audition and inspection of such units. If you are not fully aware about function and features make sure to have a experience personal with you. Cosmetically little scratch may be permissible but dent , cracks ,broken speakers terminal or I/O not . If difference is less than 15% go with new one.

Thank you for the quick response @rpmahale. The avarage retail price of a new unit is 80k and he is quoting 50k. The dealer is providing a warranty of one year from the date of purchase.

Check selling price with other sellers also. They may offer 15-20 % discount on MRP. Then take decision. Any how warranty available in both the cases.

As x2700h is on horizon, dealers may offer you decent discounts( upto 20%) on discontinue model. So the selling price may be 65k with manufacturer warranty for new one. Now for 50K you are getting additional 20-23%discount total making 37-38% discount. Now take decision on cosmetic and functional conditions.

Is it a 2500 or 2600.
A brand new 2600 with invoice and warranty costs 54k in Bangalore. Why settle for a demo unit with cosmetic issues when you can own a brand new one?

Then you are overpaying a lot.
Is it the HTStore guy offering you the demo unit?
I suggest, increase your budget by 4k and get 2600. Has updated features compared to the 2500.

I got a Denon AVR- X2600H for around 55K ( I also bought tower speakers so got a better deal). Obberpad quoted me 58K just for Denon. 2600H is the higher version of what you are going for. Also, something you can consider.

X2600H is available for 56k with warranty and bill from official dealers , dont pay 50k for a 2500h demo unit.
