Denon DP 29F

I was considering getting one myself to begin with, How is the sound? did u have to buy any additional equipment like speakers etc. ?

Hello All!!

I hope to enjoy being here in time to come.

I am new here and also newly bought a denon dp29f. I have the following questions.

1. the volume from the turntable is not even half when compared to a cd which plays directly inside my sony V40. The turtable is connected to the AUX on the sony V40 stereo.
2. the turtable has a pre amp and the switch is set to pre amp side when connected to the sony V40.
3. i having the low loudness also when the turntable is connected to to my Sony Surround system thru its AUX. pre- amp is on in the turntable
No Phono jacks on either of the Sony's.
4. What could be the problem? what is the best solution?

I am in Delhi. Where should i go to solve this?

thank you in advance!

Amit

Hello Amit,

I believe there is a phono equalizer button under some plate in the Denon 29F model. Try adjusting it. I personally do not own this set but a forum member Abhraneel has got this TT. He must be in a better position to help. Contact him.

Hi Saket,] i already set that switch under the platter to the correct setting for connecting to AUX but still the volume is just half of normal. Also i feel i am not getting good bass at all.

regards

Amit

Does your amp has a phono input? If yes, then switch off your in-built phono on the TT and plug your tt into the phono-in in your amp.
If it doesnt have the phono in, then switch on the in-built phono.
Are you sure that you have the correct setting for aux-in (that is phono on on the TT)? I ask this because you said there you are not satisfied with the bass as well. Why not toggle the switch to both settings while your TT is plugged to the Aux-in on your amp?

hi raj...sorry for the delayed response as i was travelling...i would recommend you to go ahead with this model, but do check a few used ones also...the SQ is just flawless...i have connected it to my existing onkyo HTS through aux as the denon has an inbuilt phono equaliser...
cheers..
and happy hunting...

I have ION, NUMARK counterpart of Denon DP 29F, based on my experience and current Pro-ject,Techincs experience consider the following

1.Any of these below 10K new TT is a simple waste of money
2.If you are starting in vinyl, buy a 2nd hand Pro-ject,Thorens, philips..... @ 6-7K, try it and decide you want to go any further
3.collecting records is increasingly becoming difficult and costly, believe me I know about bollywood records
4.in the price bracket 10K, CDs will sound much better, you can better a CD only if you spend more than 25K
5.for below 15K new TT, I think Audio Tehnica AT PL/LP 120 is hard to beat, its a real value for money, wait and see ebay US, offer will come, with shipping it will be below 15K, but that will be a serious TT to start with
6.TTs are not meant to connect with out of box HTiB, they need stereo amplifier or at least a decent AVR
7.TTs and cartridges are precision mechanical instruments, they won't give you pleasure if you are in the league of open-insert-click, they need care, time and effort
7.most importantly ask yourself why you want a TT, if you are serious then only move ahead, giving a half hearted effort will incur loss and wrong impression about records and TTs

Hey Arnab

Wise words out there. I will be visiting guwahati this November so can you help me out with buying a record player.

Also in Junglee.com there are so many cheap deals..are they any good??
Any idea if i can get a good Record Player for a decent price in bombay.

Could you tell me what all things to look for when i go to buy a second hand player.

Thanks

Anshuman

hey guys,

i too have recently purchased Denon29F TT to play my old vinyl on my Pioneer LX58 despite the TT having Aux switch the volume is very low. To improve this I purchased a Rs 10K worth Cambridge Preamp and still the volume has remained the same. Now Ebay wont take back the Preamp.
Pretty much struck.

Need help.

Does your cambridge preamp have a phono input ? If so, you have to connect TT to phono input and from preamp to aux of your Pioneer amp.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
