Denon X500 AVR

Hello HiFi guys...
Good Noon...
My Samsung Bluray player can able to decode Dolby True HD and not dts HD master audio ..but my newly bought Denon X500 AVR have the facility to decode both. If a movie having dts HD master audio is been played in bluray player ,Can my AVR decode.

I'm a beginner.Please help me out ..

Yes, certainly. In your BDP's audio setting, set to 'bitstream' or similar settings. So that your BD player will send the audio to AVR via HDMI for decoding.

Just a point bro, you have commented that 'it will down-convert the dts-hd audio to dts" -- by doing so won't the hd-signals be lost or deteroited, becuase I think the dts hd-audio signals might has greater depth than the plain dts audio. So by way of conversion what we will hear will be dts audio instead of dts hd audio. Please let me know if I have got it right ?

There will be some loss in quality. How much one can perceive the difference depends on the quality of speaker system and amp used. You will also be interested in how dts-hdma functions:

According to the DTS-HD White Paper DTS-HD Master Audio contains 2 data streams: the original DTS core stream and the additional "residual" stream which contains the "difference" between the original signal and the lossy compression DTS core stream. The audio signal is split into two paths at the input to the encoder. One path goes to the core encoder for backwards compatibility and is then decoded. The other path compares the original audio to the decoded core signal and generates residuals, which are data over and above what the core contains that is needed to restore the original audio as bit-for-bit identical to the original. The residual data is then encoded by a lossless encoder and packed together with the core. The decoding process is simply the reverse.
