DIRAC LIVE & DIREC LIVE BASS CONTROL

Before investing into Dirac or audysy laptop app, my core question remains,
What is the expected prowess of the laptop or Pc used for the calibration?
Is a laptop or pc required?

Is it possibke to share dirac license (simultaneous multi user)?
To be Precise:
Dirac Live have 2 major software, both has to be purchased.
One is AVR or processor independent PC VERSION, you can calibrate using UMIK or other similar calibration mic and you need to have option to upload corrected curve to your devices or drive through PC.

Second is AVR or processor based version when you buy ARCAM, Onkyo, integra, etc you can download the relevant basic version from their website and calibrate through PC and upload in your AVR.

On the PC power 16 gb RAM and Intel 5 processor work better.

Even Audessy PC version works that way however, Audessy works only with Denon n Marantz.

Yes, first position is important it should be at main listening position to start with.
Had a question. I dont have have much idea. If we purchase durac license for a cinema 50 is it for the particular device jusr like audissy multiqxt
Or for another cinema 50 also it can be used. Means is it model soecific or unit specific.

Dirac Live is unit specific - it cannot be transferred to a different Cinema 50

However, if you purchase Audissy Mobile APP you can run the room configuration in different Denon and Marantz avr
Mobile app Iam using. Multiq editor licese better than mobile app? Shall we use audissy mike given with avr for audissy muktiq editor.

I tried setting up Direct Live on Arcam AV41 and got one sweep right after several, frustrating tries since DL always complained about ambient noise.

The room as expected should be completely silent.

While DL says keep the mic gain at 0, and to keep the master volume low, often that failed.
I finally got one sweep right with mic gain at 80% and master volume at -60 db.

Would anyone know what would be the ideal values for the mic gain and the master volume that DL does not complain about ambient noise often? Thanks.

As another note, Arcam usability is a huge disappointment, certainly should not be for a premium product, or it needs getting used to.

Is there any improvement after our call ?

@rainbowsong2000 - Many thanks for your help! I re-ran Dirac after first level matching the speakers and the subwoofer in the tightly focused mode (9 measurement locations). The results are much better now. Next is to tweak the target curves and see what suits me best.

I also tried the Harman target curves with the most recommended 10 db boost- a little overwhelming for my taste (or my room). Maybe, I will try the 8 db one.

Dirac highly attenuates the bass levels (https://youthmanreviews.com/harman-target-curves-for-dirac-live/ - thanks @rainbowsong2000 ). Level matching all the speakers and the sub and then running Dirac improved the bass response.

Great!!! keep playing around till you get desired results. I would recommend to use the 4db or 6db boosted harman curve.

Also, play with the curve between 25hz to 100hz... All the best! :)

Thanks Manohar!

1) Does it allow manual setting of speaker levels.

Using Dirac Live you cannot adjust the speaker levels, but you can adjust the Dirac adjusted speaker levels in the AVR or Processor (Like we do with Audessy). However you cannot change the cross over through AVR or Processor, you need to adjust the cross over in Dirac Live.

2) Does it allow manual PEQ settings for each speaker if desired.

Yes, you can adjust the PEQ levels of individual speakers in DIRAC Live

Additional Info: Dirac Live have three level of adjustments
Dirac Live: Will adjust/calibrate all the speakers and provide the ability to modify the PEQ. But, it will not have the option to adjust the crossover.
Dirac LIVE BASS Management: This level have both Speaker calibration and cross over adjustment feature.
Dirac LIVE BASS Control: This module of DIRAC live to be purchased with additional cost for most of the AVRs and Receivers, this is where the AI and ML magic happens, which corrects phase & time of subwoofers with all the speakers. (The same can be achieved using Minidsp and Multisub optimisation software) but takes lot of learning and time.
@rainbowsong2000 , here is the PEQ gain in both Dirac Live and Dirac Bass Management for Front L&R group when I ran Dirac Live:

Shouldn't the gain be the same in both cases (the default Dirac curves) ? I am wondering why the gain is less in Dirac Bass Management curves. Thanks.

Hi,
As i explained other day, The Dirac Bass management will show the group curves along with Subwoofer, so in the above graph you are seeing the graph with Sub also. Try playing around the cross over move between 80 to 90 see if there is any uplift in the curve.

More over it is good for those having dedicated room. Happy with audissy app and audissy one.
