Does Boston acoustics soundware XS 2.1 requires amp or AVR??

I think No. It got input at back of sub so it is active one. But avr/amplifier will make it sound nicer, definitely.

Reviews of this 2.1 speaker system shows the sub as having optical input and speaker outputs to connect the satellites. So basically it is a 2.1 speaker system and you don't need stereo amp or avr to drive the satellites. But it is better to contact hifimart and ensure the features before ordering.

I bought these speaker from HIFIMART and got delivered.i talked to anil (hifimart owner or representative) about it,he said speakers are passive but sub-woofer is acitve(i think he means in-built amp).
I want to connect it to my tv,but it doesn't have RCA cable input/output(only speaker wires). Is there any way to work around it or i need to buy amp/avr?

I thought it does'nt require an AMP, I have ordered this for my desktop;
I think it takes the 3.5 mm audio jack cable.
Thought 14.5K is an absolute steal for that. The reviews were also good.
The optional part is that if you have the receiver you can connect the speakers directly to the receiver instead of the subwoofer.
@Bakes14: you would require a RCA-3.5mm cable, something like http://www.amazon.com/ER-3-5mm-Mini-Computer-Stereo/dp/B000LMFS7M.
You can get an inexpensive one in stores.

You don't require an AVR for XS 2.1. It can be directly connected to your TV, laptop/desktop. The sub has the necessary amplification for the 2 satellite speakers. Please watch this video and pay attention to the last part (2:30 secs). Boston Acoustics Sound Ware XS - YouTube

It can also be connected thru an AVR (refer to the user manual for the connections).

Please connect it thru digital optical cable. You don't need to buy an AVR for it. Please see the following youtube video and pay attention to the last part (2 mins 30 sec): Boston Acoustics Sound Ware XS - YouTube

Other users also facing same issue CHECK THIS LINK and there is no RCA in/outlets behind sub, only option is to use speaker wires.

i think Its a new model which is not available in india.I bought This one.

This model needs an external amp. There was an earlier model (more expensive) that came with a built-in amp and also blue tooth through an attachment.

Hope this clears the op's doubt.

Is your model and the model listed in the hifimart.com below are the same?
Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS 2.1

I thought it does not require an AMP, because the product manual attached shows the speakers being connected to the sub which has a built in amp.
Please find the link for product manual, which does shows that : http://ap.bostonacoustics.com/DocumentMaster/ap/SoundWareXS21_npa.pdf

The sub has a speaker level input and output. It still needs an external amp.

Can someone recommend an inexpensive amp for this please?
I cannot afford an amp like Marantz NR 1402, which is like 24K to drive my desktop speakers...
Or should I get some sound card that can drive this?

Regards
Shyam
