There is no confusion, it requires an AMP or receiver to drive this.So what is the conclusion?? these speakers require an amp or not?? I am totally confused??
@cbeshyam even i am tight on budget don"t want to spend more than 15k on receiver or amp. have you gt something?.The AMP need not have a Preout feature, it is enough to connect the speaker cables from AMP to the active subwoofer on the in, and connect to the satellite on out. This gives the feed to the sub.
Hi Bakes,@cbeshyam even i am tight on budget don"t want to spend more than 15k on receiver or amp. have you gt something?.
hey guys suggest me 2.1 stereo receiver(sub out) in my budget?
though anil from hifimart suggest me MARANTZ SR4023 STEREO RECEIVER @ 26,000,way overshoot my budget ?
@cbeshyam Thanks mate for Your detailed info.Had you pair it with your Boston acoustics soundware XS 2.1? whats your feedback on them?...somewhere i read Norge 2060 produce some distortion when we pumped it up over 50%,i hope its not true or they sort it out on Norge 2000.Hi Bakes,
Since the subwoofer is active, it is not required that you need a preout to drive that.
Any 2.0 Amp will suffice, you just need to connect the AMP to the In terminals of the active sub, and connect the speakers to the out.
That itself is sufficient to drive the Sub.
After so much thought I settled down to buy Norge AMP, which is a 2.0 which has some wonderful reviews. Initially I want to buy a pre-owned AMP, but it was not available. So I thought of buying a new one, there is an online option(shop.technoguru.in) the prices in the site was more and they did'nt have the stocks for the AMP I was looking at. So, like most of the members I contacted Mr.Shyam Bajaj.
The price he quoted for
Norge 2000 - 13.5K
Norge 1000 - 12K
Norge 2060 - 9.5K
all of them have an additional shipping charge of 700.
I decided to buy Norge 2000, which I had order last week, and received the AMP last evening.
Initially I had paired them with my Heco Victa 700 speakers for testing, I was completely blown by the amount of clarity it had, though the media was 320 Kbps played on an iPod and the song was a 80s Ilayaraja song. I could hear the orchestration much more detailed than my Denon 1612.
I would strongly recommend you to go for Norge, if you have the budget for it.
Yep, you got it right, u will not require to connect to sub out with 2.0 AMPEven I am planning to buy Norge 2000 amp.but i have to clear on :-
1) we don't require dedicate sub out,coz sub in active, though we may miss LFE,right?
Yep, I spoke to him and sent a couple of emails and finally did an online transfer to his bank account, I got the AMP within 4 days, though he said that it will take 7-8 days.2) did you order it online, coz i doesn't see any link on norge site OR you paid offline(DTB-direct to bank) to Mr. Shyam?
Thanks for your time and patience, i am naive
@Shivam, I use a BA XS 5.1 system and have mounted 4 of these satellite units on the wall. As long as they remain undisturbed once mounted, they are very sturdy and I have had no issues.
Guys,
One of my friends bought this confusing it with the Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS Digital Cinema model. Remember, there are 2 models:
1. Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS 2.1
2. Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS Digital Cinema
The first one is an active subwoofer but passive satellites. Meaning, you need an amp. It has speaker level subwoofer connections, this can be confusing to people when they see the pictures thinking the subwoofer is powering the satellites..
The second one is fully active. You do not need an amp.
Needless to say, my friend had to pick up a sonodyne amp.
