Hi,

I have a LG 32" LW4500 LED 3D TV which I bought three months back. Recently, I had to change the panel of the TV. Since it is still under warranty, they replaced the panel for me. However, I am planning to take extended warranty for the TV. I am looking for the details of the cost for the extended warranty.

Thank you.

Vimal

hi Vimal,
did you go for extended warranty? is it worth buy? I have the same problem with my 47" LW5700. would be good to know. Thanks

Surprised and shocked in seeing the issues with these new ones, However in electronics sometimes we should be so lucky not to have any problems.

Having enquired myself for my LG 42LW5700 additional warranty for 3 extra years(1+3=4) , they are asking for INR 16000/-

IMHO, These warranties are like a medical insurance, If somethings goes wrong it will cost a fortune especially in these TV's to replace any spares. Anyone bought additional warranty can add some information.

I noticed some faint horizontal lines on my LG 42" LED TV bought in April 2011. When I reported the same, the first thing LG care asks is the date of purchase and they confirm if the product is within / outside warranty. Today, the technician came to my house and decided that the Panel is gone without even taking a closer look at it, he told me that the TV has run almost 3700 hours already and hence the panel must be gone. I had to give him a long lecture on how the panel is designed for 60000 hours and that the issue might be with the circuitry rather than the panel itself. The guy then opens up the TV and cleans and re-slots the strips for the panel. He was not able to slot the strip properly the existing display is also gone. He told me he will bring an experienced guy to take a look at it. I am now left with a TV that doesn't work at all.

Update: The experienced guy just dropped in and had a look at the TV. He says the TV is already opened up and the Strips are damaged. When I told him that it was the work of his colleague, he tells me that he is experienced enough to say that the TV Panel is gone. He demands me to change the panel for it to work fine. I had to give him a mouthful before demanding him to Restore the TV to the prior state. He then takes a multimeter out of his kit and checks some of the circuitry and says that the circuit board might have issues and he might have to change that to restore the TV to watchable state (without fixing the horizontal line issue, of course). I told him clearly that I wont pay a penny, its their mistake and they have to bring the TV to the state before. He know tells me that, if he replaces the circuit and if it fixes the horizontal line issue, I have to pay for the circuit. I accepted for that offer and wondered, if the panel really has any issues at all

Moral of the story : You must be really lucky to get defect free piece. If you want mental piece, we can get the Extended warranty for 16000 (Even my 8 lac car's extended warranty was only 4000). These LG Service team seem to just try and loot people for even a minor issue.

PS: If the panel is indeed gone for my TV, I would give up buying another TV and buy a projector instead.

Sorry to hear about your TV and the way these guys are treating us...

Which all companies sell Projectors and what are the price range?

You must be able to get decent projectors for Home use from 25000 itself. Benq is one of the Value for Money brands.
