Festival Offers on LCD/LED panels

Hi Guys,
Thanks a lot for your suggestions and recommendations. All must have noticed that during festival season, almost all the dealers come up with many discount offers with lots of free gifts which makes customers rather confused than happy. I'm planning to buy 42 inch panel, either LCD or LED and my budget is about 50-60K. Now during this festival season, all the price threads in this forum don't seem to help much. E zone in Kolkata is offering LG SL90 42inch panel at impressive 60K with free Tata sky HD connection and digital photoframe, till the stock lasts. I would like to ask the gurus here about this SL series LED panels from LG, is this outdated model? Is it at par with IPS panel from same maker? Please help.
Also comment about these offers during festival seasons. Should consumers like us who are concious about audio/video gadgets go for the offers?

LG SL90 LED is 2 good. I think production has stopped, but if it is a new piece and it fits within your budget then get it quickly.

It is better than the other IPS panels from the same maker. That is why it commands a premium and is still 60k even after festival discount.
As to festival season offers.... of course you should go for them and take advantage. Or would you rather wait for the prices to go up again before buying??

SL 90 is a edge LED display that,has nothing special interms of performance.
Unlike the earlier LH90 which has a LED backlight.

Right...... The LH90 is the better one, but the SL90 is still better than the crop of other LG CCFL LCD TVs. At 60K with the host of freebies, it's still a good deal.

If you can get LH90 then go for it. Make it your first option.
To correct a mistake in my first post..... it is the LH90 which has been discontinued, the SL90 is still in production.

are you sure dude that it was SL90 ( LED ) model ? coz if offer is @ 60k (MRP 99.9k ) then its a great deal.

Here are the offers in PUNE as per TOI.
Samsung is giving AIRTEL HD DTH free with LCD > 37".
LG is giving extended warranty on select models. Not sure if its applicable for LCDs.
Panasonic exchange offer. But its ridiculous. As per the Ad MRP of 42V20D is 78900 and after exhange with 29" CRT,the price is 68,900. What a joke ?

Try to get a deal on the LE8500 if you can. Its the best non 3D, full LED panel from LG now.

In my views, festive season hardly makes any difference on pricing, except big colorful ads and some lottery schemes, especially for people who are on this forum. When somebody waits for 2 or 3 months for festive season, he may get a 2K lower (on 50K+) or some free gifts. This might be majorly due time, and stores/companies would try to offload their old models. In this, one would loose 2 or 3 months of enjoyment, especially having a new model early.

Also the freebies advertised by the companies are typically on MRP, which is not worth.

Of course it is fun shopping during the festival season. Enjoy.

True as your blanket statement might be.... it is totally inapplicable in this case.
He is getting an SL90 for 60k, whose MRP is somewhere in the 90's. Over and above that he is getting a digital photoframe. What better deal could there be??

The MRP prices of Samsung and LG are a joke,since the street prices are way cheaper.Only Sony sticks to its MRP price.

During diwali last year the 40B530 was available for 47k with freebies such as free dvd player with HDMI,DVD movies and some gold coins+ store freebies.Just after diwali the prices where like 55k to 57k with no freebies.

man, i am totally confused. If i buy from small stores they wont give me extended warranty unlike CROMA. Small stores seem to give best price.

We are talking about MRP prices in india and Sony sticks to in every country ,all dealers have to follow Sony SURE(Sony Unified Retail Execution) program.Where the dealers can't sell it below the said price of Sony,even if the dealer wanted to.

Yes Sony prices in india come with 30% import tax,so good that there is a grey market.
