I am trying to help a friend setup ht and was planning to use the newly introduced Finolex speaker cables. Anyone used them? any review/feedback?

Can some one explain the speaker cable selection chart given in the above leaflet.What are the power loss figures ? Also the dB / meter loss is very high!

Dont they own they own Siltech and Van del Hul brands ? this could be a hidden star

Wow

I never knew they would own such brands

I mean another brand like theirs is very much thinkable but companies which are into proper hifi cables

Maybe the owner of Finolex is a proper audiophile :)

Siltech is owned by Mr. Ajay Shirke, along with Cadence, Spendor & Crystal Cables.

EDIT:

The link below indicates a collaboration between Mr. Shirke & Mr. Chhabria of Finolex Industries Ltd. Could be a JV of sorts, but atleast we now know that Mr. Chhabria is an audiophile, hence his companies speaker cables offerings should be looked into ;)

Don't Finolex know that many people are perfectly happy using their electrical cable for speakers? :)
+1 to that.
This is just marketing 101. Market segmentation and product positioning for more profits from a commodity product.
I am open to correction on this: the fire retardant thing is not so important given the voltages involved, a lot more relevant for mains wiring that is also usually concealed. But one can get fire retardant electrical cable that addresses this a lot cheaper, so the question may be moot.
The important bit to remember is the core thickness to speaker cable run length relationship, while buying decent quality commodity class electrical cable.

Embedded illustration is silly

O --> Insulation
--> Conductor

Can it be the otherway round? :lol:

Santy, I'm sure we've all seen that. Transparent insulation on speaker cables is good for this, because it seems to magnify the conductors inside.

Hee hee, did fire ever start in a hifi cable?

But for concealed cables, I think some countries have rules. Apparently this is how the Teflon thing became established in hifi cables. It was simply to meet fire safety rules. But hey, the audiophile imagination knows no bounds, and people can, of course, hear the difference.

I am interested in Finolex power cables, I have some wattgate plugs that i can use. Where can I buy them and which model/option ? I need some long power cables (4m) for my Servo stabilizer etc., don't want to spend a fortune on audiophile brands. Please advice.
Hopefully this is not too OT.
Cheers,
Sid

Sid, lots of fake Finolex in the market at retail outlets. they are marked exactly like the original and hence difficult to find out. Apparently wholesale outlets like Metro Cash and Carry (in bangalore) have original since they buy from the company directly.

I still use a Finolex cable from the wall outlet

Not believers..please do not read this section.it is not meant for you and hence request that folks not respond on this thread on this below...there is another thread for that here
-----Believer only section----
the finolex i found sounds great as a overall cable in the mid and up but the Bass is loose and very often missing. so works great as the main input to a regenerator/conditioner. i found it does not cut harmonic content hence is very musical
------Believers section close and regular section start--------

:lol: trying something new here above..usually these threads get derailed faster than Salman Khan removing his shirt

Yes I am also trying to get some 2 to 4 mtr Finolex cables in Bangalore but none of the electrical shops are ready to give in this quantity but insisting to purchase the entire bundle which comes to around 1500. Not worth that price if we are trying to make a IEC power cable. I am not sure whether they are fake or original as arj pointed out but nevertheless they are of good quality if we can procure it.

Well i might just import some basic but higher qlty. 12 guage cable then from amazon or parts express. Seems to be easier.

Cheers,
Sid
