Good home theater recommendation

Hello,

I am looking for a good home theater. I am relatively not so expert this area. My budget is around 40K (INR) and use is mainly for listening to classical/instrumental/light music, but will also be using for Movies/TVs (60 /40 split)..
Since only visibile brands through ADs are Bose/Sony/Philips, would like your recommendations..

Stay away from sony, philips, bose......I would suggest for HTib from Denon, yamaha or onkyo in this budget....

You can go separate and that is what most of the experience FMs here will advice you. Also let us know the size of the room.

Room size is 15 * 12.. I currently have Sony home theater (DAV-SB200/CSP1 from 2004) with its amplifier stopped working and Sony service centers are unable (unwiling) to fix it stating its an old model. Not sure if I should only by AVR and use with rest of the set up and then gradually upgrade it.

Go for an AVR and front speakers first.Although you got to increase your budget a bit and should buy an entry level AVR, front book shelf speakers and good center channel first....
Can use ur old sony speakers as surrond and can buy a sub later........

Can OP also use the sub from his sony setup as a makeshift?

i have always adviced the JBL sb200 to relatives who just want a decent minimalistic HT setup for mostly movies and very casual listening

not AVR no 5 speakers to be pinned all around the house
hell no sub even

it doesn a decent job for its price

and works well for a minimilasitic setup
