Good Speakers for listening to audio 2.1(Cheap and Best)

As the title suggest I'm looking for a decent speakers to listen to audio for price range of Rs 2k to 4k. You heard it right about the budget. I know many guys may think why am I posting in hifi forum about such low end related query. This is for my uncle who listens to lot of old songs.
I thought it would be worthwhile for him. Currently these maybe connected to TV but later I can set up a PC for this.

If you guys think this is not really worth while then maybe I can postpone this later and save something for better.
Right now I have in mind brands like Edifier, F&D and Logitech. I don't remember the exact models.

I ball Tarang! Sounds quite decen. Cost around 1.5k. Edifier is decent. Sony/philips has few models in 2.1. Artis is another decent brand. If you are not particular about 2.1 and are ok with stereo (2 channel), I would recommend to have a look at Sony micro hifi system. The one I checked was for 5k, 5watt RMS per channel, a CDp, radio and tape deck and sound was amazing for the size and money.

Check Altec Lansing they produce very good sound.

Andy.....i saw someone selling Whar 9.1 (2FS) for 6.5k, sud be good, why don't try to negotiate ;-)

Try some Altec Lansing product , they are good for the price.....I sometimes listen to a Altec speaker purchased for only Rs 1400/- and they sound very good.......)

Here is some suggestions of 2.1 speakers:
1) EDIFIER C2
2) Altec Lancing Octain 7
3) JBL Creatuer III

All the speakers cost 3.5k to 4.5k (Price at Flipkart.com)

I personally use Edifier C2 with Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE sound card it sounds really great for Music & Movie. C2 has very good balance among low, mid & high. and give a very smooth listening experience.

Jokes apart, it'll be you alone to feel the difference between mp3 & flac because they are your ears brother.

yes, as far as C2 is concern U can here a noticeable difference between flac and mp3. At least i can personally feel the diff.

Sorry Guys for digging up an old thread.
In similar dilemna the budget is same but this time around my uncle has a 29" LED TV and the sound quality coming from the TV is quite bad. So want to go for some decent speaker setup.
Budget is strictly between 1k-3k.

Hi Andy78,

There are a lot of decent speakers available (computer powered ones) in the market. Altec Lansing has closed down but has some good models still available. You can look at Creative ..the T20s are good..the T40s are even better.

It all depends on how much your uncle is willing to spend and what appeals to him in terms of looks and performance.

I have not personally used Edifier but heard that it is good. Check snapdeal / flipkart for good deals on speakers...
