The last month has been very very hectic... too much of work... have been literally coming back home to change once in 3 days (when the undies get sticky and itchy!)... plus with a health crisis in the family, the hospital rounds too took a toll on my time... but I finally got time to unwind now... I intend making the most of it...
as I wrote out a 'warning' against a pre-owned hi-fi dealer in another section, I spun some good ole jazz, to calm me down (hence, I could write in a more civil language! lol!).
The album that was being spun then was: Ron Carter - Spanish Blue.
This album is a superb showcase of his talent... as a double bassist. Ron Carter has played the instrument in over 2500 jazz albums - all A listers of jazz.
He is also an acclaimed Cellist!
here is a track from it:
ARKANSAS / Ron Carter (Audio) - YouTube
up next is Quincy Jones - The Dude....
I've never like him much as a Jazz turmpeter... but as R&B/Smooth Jazz artist or even as a producer - brilliant! (Imagine no quincy = no MJ)...
"The Dude" is a perfect album to relax with. It has some excellent musicians on it and the sounds are smooth.... Imagine this is the album on which James Ingram got to debut his first vocals! The song is "Just Once"...
My vinyl copy is a NM condition A&M records first cut... it sounds superb! If you like smooth jazz or good smooth R&B, grab this one!
Here are a few songs from it:
JUST ONCE - QUINCY JONES E JAMES INGRAM - YouTube
and here is one of the several tracks that Patti Austin sang on this album...
Quincy Jones - Sometin' Special - YouTube
