I get your points and agree with you mostly.
If sound quality is at par . The active is definitely preferred than passive.

My wife is will definitely preferred active speakers for their ease of use.

She is already fuming for time i spent researching on iem, headphones.
Active speakers will definitely save me from her wraith .

I will do some more digging on active speakers option.

And on a another note ,anyone imparting knowledge can be called sir, knighthood not required
