Guys Im planning to buy a 5.1 speakers for my pc. My budget is 10 K maximum. I need to mount it on a speaker stand. So can u guys plz suggest me some awesome 5.1 for my PC..ready to buy a sound card too. All i need is awesome sound quality and blaster effect. Wenever i ask someone thy end up saying creative only. Im tired oh hearing it. So suggest me some very good speakers. And i don mind spending some extra money if it is worth. Thanks in advance...

Looking towards your budget I suggest (1) Soundcard ASUS Xonar DX (2) Speakers Logitech Z-506.

If you are music listener then purchse 2.1 speakers only. In this case go for "altec lansing expressionist ultra mx6021". This may slightly overpriced but go to website & search the reviews of this Ultec Lancing speakers!!!

All i need is awesome sound quality and blaster effect.

When it comes to 5.1 PC speakers, I have to recommend Logitech z-5500. Now these are priced a lot higher than your budget. What I'd recommend is that you spend sometime scouting for someone parting with their set. It'll be worth the effort.

Been using the Logitech set for 5yrs now. Just brilliant.

it would help a bit if you could tell your room size where your PC is located.

for your budget, there's one combination that you could take eyes closed, and that is --> edifier DA5000 Pro (8.2k) + asus xonar DX (4.5k).

i suggested above hoping your needs are movies+gaming, and less of music. but these handle music also very decently. i have been using this combination, and am totally floored by this ! another competitor is f&d (fenda) f5090, and f&d f6000 (i use the former, and i know some people using the latter. both are very good, though latter is better for music, and former for games and movies. goes pretty loud without any noticeable distortion).

am afraid these are discontinued now, and have a successor named Z-906, which happen to be THX certified and are very good too, but not anywhere near the Z-5500 as per reviews. and they cost well above 10k.

@ OP - PM me if you need help with the edifier or f&d. getting those edifier ones might be an issue, as i too had to struggle a bit to find the stocks. but if you are able to get one, you would be one lucky chap ! and yes, welcome to HFV :)

There was a group buy deal in Techenclave for the z-5500 a few months back; 13.5k each. I'm sure one can find these at a good price 2nd hand.

@mike: the ebay pricing is insane

that ebay deal is worth disdainful laughter.

need to keep an eye for the Z5500 now. but sadly i dont have any more space left at my place to accommodate yet another 5.1 system :(

Thank u so much for the replies. Will reply 2nite regarding the room size. I have i3 proc: 4 GB ram. Should i wait and go for z5500 or can i go ahead with edifier DA5000 Pro (8.2k) + asus xonar DX (4.5k). I need it for gamin movies and music. I dono much about speakers. :(..

'speaker stand' as in ? could you provide a link to some photos of the kind of stand you desire ? the sub can be placed on the floor, or on some custom-stand (to avoid boom), and the satellites can be either wall-mounted or mounted on stands. check the below link for various types of stands and wall-mounts. the seller is present on ebay too :

Tono Systems

if you want to save the hassle of getting separate stands, then get the below model (this too for 8.2k). i have this too, and its very good for movies and gaming, but not so for music :

F5090 5.1 home theatre speaker | 5.1 Speaker System

P.S. - the above one has very less connectivity options though

sorry man. It is perfect. Just saw the video on youtube and its perfect in size. Image was too big. And can i go ahead with edifer da 5000 pro itself. Will i be able to find so much of difference when i compare this with logitech z5500.As far as i have googled i got very good review about this speakers. Waiting for your reply to cut down my options from the big list i have. and thank you so much for the help man. :)

mention not :)

I havent got the chance to listen to the Z5500, but even if you're getting a used piece from someone (which is very doubtful that someone would be ready to part with them, owing to their huge popularity), you could safely go with them.

what i would suggest is, first try full-swing to get the Z5500 from somewhere at a good price. if you fail to do so, head for DA5000 Pro straight, because for the edifier too you will have to battle stock availability !

@ the seeker

Problem is z5500 is too costly for ma budget. It costs around 19K and after that i should buy a sound card for 4K and speaker stands for 2.5 K. I cannot spend nearly 24 K for speakers. I just need to know, is there any other speaker better than edifer da 5000 pro for the same price. Since you are using it you will be able to tell de experience of using it. I couldn't find many people to discuss about speakers.

edifer 5000 pro or F&D f6000 which one you will prefer.

at the price mentioned, and at your budget, nothing comes closer to the edifier ! but having a sound card is an ABSOLUTE necessity to drive this beast to literally rattle your window-panes !

F&D F5090 goes louder than the edifier, but it seriously wont interest you in stereo-mode, and F6000 distorts a bit at higher volume. but i dont suppose you would drive your speakers to much high volume in your room. may be just occasionally.

when i was buying, i was purchasing them to be used with my PC, i already had the sound card snugly fit, and the targets in front of me were edifier DA5000 Pro & F&D F6000. it was tough to decide. but then, finally i took some (apparently) minor points into consideration, like :

* edifier's subwoofer as well as satellites, all are wooden, whereas F6000's just sub is wooden, and satellites are plastic.

* satellites of edifier are bigger as well as the tweeters.

* somehow edifier's looks seemed just perfect to blend in with my PC system, while F6000 looked more suitable to go with the TV in the hall (glossy looks).

if you are not going to use the speakers for music AT ALL (or may be RARELY), i would say buy F5090, and save money on those stands. but since they are going to go with the PC, i know you would listen to music too at times, so my whole-hearted recommendation is EDIFIER DA5000 PRO !
(and god forbid, suppose you dont get it anywhere, you may buy F6000 too. you wont feel disappointed, seriously. but if you ask me, first try for the edifier).

and i hope you dont have a very large room where the speakers are going to be installed, right ?! see if you could upload a pic of your room if you dont mind. we'll get a better idea.

P.S. - if you happen to increase your budget, do tell us. we have some even better options then ;)

No my room is bit big. Main aim is for movies, gaming and music (in dis order). Okie..can u tell me how should i spend to get an awesome speaker. now speakers 8K sound card 4K and stands 2K.. Jus tell me how much should i spend for getting better tan edifier pro. But im not ready to spend 20 K and all. Tis is de budget buddy. Tat too i can opt for 18 or 19 K oly if i can able to find if it so great tan edifier pro. Not for minor differences. :). Always difficult to buy speakers and mobile phones :(. Im not an audiophile. so i will not notice any minute sounds and those guitar strings etc etc... End of the movie watching experience should be excellent. Period :)

alright !

let me put it pointwise for our better understanding :

1. for higher budget, you have the S550 & S750, which, with their power, can be termed as 'party-rocking' speakers ! but as with all electronic items, their prices too have shot up by quite a figure recently. the S550, which earlier used to retail for ~16k, is now for 19k (the earlier price of the S750)
check this :

so, should we say - "drop 'em !" ?! :p

2. DA5000 Pro is purely analog 5.1 system, hence it would give you a very good sound output in music too ! as am writing to you, am bobbing my head to some good music-beats playing on the DA5000 Pro :ohyeah:
the sub doesnt produce boomy bass all the time (which could be annoying), but only when required, say when you have some scenes in a movie that have low-frequency sound, you could hear you windows rattling behind you, but no unnecessary boom. thats one-of-a-kind experience :D at other times, its tight and punchy, deep and gives that 'good-good' feeling. again, playing BF3 on these speakers was a heavenly experience :yahoo:

3. F&D F5090 comes with stands with the speakers. these have a higher RMS rating than the Pro above. the sub's quite powerful, and all the sound input-output settings have to be handled with the tiny remote you get with the system. these are NOT recommended for music at all, but much recommended for movies+gaming :clapping:
check link again :

4. F&D F6000 produce a more balanced sound, and these too have a higher output power than the DA5000 Pro, but when i tested these, it seemed to me that they distort a bit at higher volume. also, they seemed to lack that 'heaviness' in sound as against the DA5000 Pro. also, these dont really require a sound card, but having one would certainly show some improvement in SQ.

where do you live ?!
an audition is advised. if you have 'more' mall at your place, you could audition the F&D speakers there. but finding the DA5000 Pro, let alone auditioning them, is tough.

so, start your search in this flow --> DA5000 Pro >> F&D F5090 >> F&D F6000.

the most VFM speakers here are obviously the DA5000 Pro. if you cant find them even after an exhaustive search, head straight to 'more' and audition both the F&D speakers there, and choose to your liking.

lynx-india listed DA5000 Pro sometime back with some 'official discount from edifier' thing (which was useless, as even after discount it was priced higher than 8.2k). call them up and inquire about the stock, ONLY if you fail to find the DA anywhere locally. thats because the seller has got some nasty reputation. so keep lynx as a last resort.

and pls tell which city you live in.
