Help for buying a 5.1 speakers for PC

Oh great man.... But
Buy Edifier S550.. tis is damn tempting me man... :D :D

which sound card u prefer me. can i go for asus xonar DX itself or is ter any other better sound card tan tat...

thats why i was asking for your room size, to gauge whether the speakers will be insufficient or overkill. we'll see your pic later today.

the S550 can surely be had for cheaper, say 16-18k there at chennai locally. i forgot the area's name which has all those computer-shops. 2-3 or more crowded lanes running in parallel. you could get those speakers there.

xonar DX will be more than sufficient for you. we also have cheaper variants like xonar DG, which is for about 1.5k, and is a total VFM product.

whenever you need to add something to your post, just use the 'edit' button. you cant delete the post.

@s_anuj - I agree, with that price there are much better options availble in the market, just want to point the availability of speakers.

I will go +1 with logitech z5500. You might be able to get a good deal on a second hand piece. Try ebay and olx

at the price mentioned, and at your budget, nothing comes closer to the edifier ! but having a sound card is an ABSOLUTE necessity to drive this beast to literally rattle your window-panes !

when i was buying, i was purchasing them to be used with my PC, i already had the sound card snugly fit, and the targets in front of me were edifier DA5000 Pro & F&D F6000. it was tough to decide. but then, finally i took some (apparently) minor points into consideration, like :

hi seeker,

sorry to dig out an old post but i wanted to ask you something. what soundcard are you using with your DA5000pro? i just bought a set and am using it with my PCs onboard 5.1. i noticed that surround is really great but the center channel is a mess and sounds horrible. how much difference do you think the soundcard would make? also, i notice that bass distorts quite early. (although the system is very new. just 2 days old and not yet run in)

i hope this unit is in good shape because i just didnt find INR 10k worth of power in this thing.

cheers
