Soamz, pls confirm that the rates u were quoted were inclusive of tax or not... Dealers cleverly quote a rate & later when we go to order they state that the price is actually that amt + vat...

Don't go for the ceiling mount. Make a shelf at the top of back wall and put the PJ there. I just got mine mounted too and it's a freaking PITA to setup the PJ when its mounted upside down. Was so much easier when it was sitting on the table. I'm now getting a shelf made for the back wall of my new room. This wall mount is going to end up in garbage can once I move.

I am still in for the group buy guys :)

Can anyone tell me here ...how many of us r finally there so far for the group buy

@nSinghal-- I know it is a PITA to ceiling mount a Projector-- But that is the way the projector is designed to be installed.

If you end up placing the on a high shelf- then you will need to keystone correction to compensate the image

Another option is to flip the projector on the high shelf-- this is identical to mounting it on the ceiling

Yeah man, the mount alone is 8.5k . Freaking too much. How about simply making a box tyle structure with bricks on the back wall , in the center and on the top most position on the wall and simply rest the projector over there ?

Sorry soamz that is a little too quick for me as I had mentioned earlier this thread that earliest I can buy it is in March end ...Little short of funds till then :( Busy house shifting right now

I'm in two minds about whether to go for 6100 or 8100.
Most likely i'll buy from B'lore and it will be end of Feb or in March.
Hey Soamz, what is the mode of payment with this hyd dealer? Will he take credit card? That might make me make the decision sooner :)

I dont think, credit cards would be accepted. I guess, RTGS only.

And bangalore, what price are thye quoting for 8100 ?

And do they have demo for 150 inch screen , any store ?

No you won't. What are you talking about? This epson has the same lens shift for both moving the image up and down vertically. It won't matter if its turned upside down or not as long as the height of the PJ on the shelf is the same as it'd be with the mount.

Also, this particular PJ certainly wasn't designed to be mounted upside down. From what I've read in avsforums, you'll be dealing with a lot more convergence issues when its flipped.

Another option is to flip the projector on the high shelf-- this is identical to mounting it on the ceiling

Like I said, no need to flip it upside down with this PJ. Please look it up.

@Soamz: yeah, just make sure its centred on the back wall horizontally and you'll have no issues even if you place the PJ at over 10 feet high.

Im planning to go for demo of both 6100 and 8100 today and will update on the screen but believe it should be available. The place is DNI home theatre .The best quote got for 6100 was 1 lakh and for 8100 it should be 1.35 but not sure.

@nSinghal- the 8100 owners manual- recommends that you flip the the projector upside down (feet pointing to the ceiling) if you have the projector at the Front / ceiling location-- and set the Projector to ceiling Setting

Refer to the Quote from the owners manual on page 17

"When projecting from a ceiling, change Projection to a ceiling setting. see Settings -
Projection p.73"

On Page 73- it gives you the following setting options--

Front: Select if you are projecting in front of the screen.

Front/Ceiling: Select if you are projecting in front of the screen suspended from the ceiling.

Eh, how does that mean they're recommending it to be flipped???

That's just them telling how to flip the image using the on screen menus "IF" you have the projector flipped on the ceiling. Where are they recommending it to be flipped if the projector is placed above the screen??

Since you have the PJ manual now, check out the placement guide. You'll find out it has the same lens shift for both moving the image up or down vertically. Some (or I guess most) PJs have more lens shift in one direction (upwards) and for those PJs it's certainly recommended to flip them upside down. But not with this PJ.

I can say it with confidence coz I already have it and checked out the lens shift.

I don't have the 8100 manual but here's what 5020 (same PJ) manual says...
Please note the bolder part...
If you install the projector on the ceiling, you will need to invert the picture so that it appears right side up.
Follow these steps:
1. Press the Menu button on the remote control.
2. Open the Settings menu, then select Projection.
3. Select Front/Ceiling.
4. Press the Menu button to exit the menu system.

Fine if it works for you
It works for everyone with 5020 or tw8100. Not just me

Guys there is a good news for all of you!

One of my local Epson store said with tax, he can give it for 1,23,000 rupees.

Again its with tax. And shipping extra, if shipped outside bhubaneswar.
