one suggestion...with htib you will very soon feel the upgrade bug..but then you will be thinking you made a mistake....i can say for myself as i did the same...

Quite the point I have been trying to drive here will next to no success.

Every HTIB is supplied with speaker systems of the lowest quality. That is how they are priced so low.

This sounds a little louder than a Creative 5.1 computer speaker system. Thats it. Receiver used with HTP-522 is VXS-522-K. You could buy this receiver and build around it as someone else has suggested.

It will be really really really helpful to us and rest of the FMs to have suggestions rather than only criticism. If you have any good VFM speaker package, plz do come up with the suggestion. Here we always look forward for positive things with positive outlook.

Here you go. Something that will sound like a million bucks when pitched beside the cheap loudspeakers supplied with HTIB's.

You start with this. As and when funds permits, get a pair of cheap surrounds like this ; Wharfedale Vardus Surround 2 Speakers and finally a sub woofer to match. Something that does not over power the system like the Polk Audio PSW110

@bpranay, if your budget is not permitting more than 25K, then you can better start with good quality pre-owned AVR (which supports HDMI and DTS 5.1 & Dolby 5.1) which costs around 10-12K and get a good front speakers for 10-12K.

It will be a very good starter system you can get your money's worth. The only problem is immediate availability of both.

If you want to go the HTiB way, then audition as many HT systems as you can. When satisfied with one, then bought it and move on as I said in my previous posts.

Ultimately its you, who is going to spend time listening to these systems and it is your satisfaction which counts at the last.

@Jaivelu...I have Denon1612 with me replacing it with either Yamaha RX V473 or Denon 1713 as my wife is really fascinated with Airplay and networking feature. Only problem is that she's not letting me buy speakers with it and is adamant on using our old Sony bookshelf speakers but I have to go for a sub as old one is passive one. And now I am looking for sub under 15K category ( main contenders: Astonia,Sonodyne rorr108, Polk Audio PSW110) and am really confused.

@bpranay, I have heard the Polk PSW110 is good, but I don't know about the other two subs.

The Astonia has been given a 5 star rating my whathifi magazine, so take a look at that. Its only cost about 12K. There is a separate thread for "Astonia Sub" or you can find the "WhatHiFi" review at their website also. The Astonia has been built like a tank weighing at 28kgs I think. Its a very heavy one, so imagine the freq. it would produce.

I also trying for an audition of Astonia, but I couldn't find it anywhere in TN. Hence, decided to goto Bangalore to take audition, so lets see...

Dear FMs..

I am getting a combo deal of Denon AVR1312 BKE2 and PURE ACOUSTICS Lord 5.1 System ( Lord 5.1 Home Theater System with 10 inch Powered Subwoofer ) for INR 31 K ( brand New seal packed, Purchased in Dubai)

These two packets are orginally purchased in Dubai.. Which is making me concerned about :

1. Whether its going to work in India or not ( Power / AC Voltage etc ) .. ?
2. Is that is good combo.. Valued FM please review the product details ... and share your thoughts.. I Googled it and got the below link :

Denon AVR1312 BKE2

Google Translate

PS : I need to translate above page .. as google was showing some other languages..

PURE ACOUSTICS Lord 5.1 System

Amazon.com: Pure Acoustics Lord 5.1 System 5.1 Home Theater System With 10" Powered Subwoofe: Electronics

3. Is Denon 1312 AVR is same as Denon AVR1312 BKE2 ? I am not sure what is BKE2 means here :-(

4. How about the warranty ?

5. Is 31 K OK for this combo ?

Appreciate your response..

1. Whether its going to work in India or not ( Power / AC Voltage etc ) .. ?

Yes; it will work.

2. Is that is good combo..

No complaints with the Denon receiver. I will not buy a Pure Acoustics product ever. I made the mistake of recommending it to a relative and this was their previous generation AV799 speaker system. It did sound a lot better than anything Onkyo (Onkyo India used to offer Pure Acoustics some 4 years ago) offered but the quality of the speaker is pathetic. The speaker grills disintegrated on their own after a year and some of the speaker cabinet sealing glue was just flaking away. This was scary. The quality was very poor.

4. How about the warranty ?

Will not be applicable.

5. Is 31 K OK for this combo ?

Yes but I would stay away from Pure Acoustics.

imho get the avr only..if getting at around say 15k...
otherwise its around 22k here...so no point buyibg there if costliier than 15k...
get speakers in india after audition

@cool_guy, the Onkyo HT SR800 is a old model. It only has HDMI passthrough only. It will only pass through the video only. For audio you need a separate audio cable. Also it doesn't support the HD Audio formats like DTS master audio or the Dolby TruHD. It will be 120V, so you need a voltage changeover to work in Indian conditions and also there will be no warranty for US models in India.

So, you please better go with the Onkyo HT-S3500 instead of buying Onkyo HT SR800.

Boss.. you Guys ( sply Sandeep , Jaivelu , Prosenjit da ) are mind blosing..

I also read the details and it is true that this model does not have Audio pass thru HDMI...So plan dropped....

WRT AC power ... that guy is giving a convertor ... but any way.. no more talk about this model..

I will come with some other alternatives / options :-)
