Hi friends-

Am looking for assistance to choose a right screen size and brand for a LED Full HD Tv (3D is optional to me). This is for home use and ok to spend 75k; if a particular model is value for money, I can stretch upto 1 Lakh as well.
My room size is 16'x12' where we seat at a distance of 8' to 14' from the screen. Do you think 46" will be over sized in this scenario ?

My intention is to get an Airtel HD (DVR) and watch the available HD channels from it and soon I'll have to buy a BD player as well. May be in future, I'll watch the 3D contents from the STB/BD, if 3D become cheap & popular. I read the pros and cons of the current 3D technologies/features available in SAM/SONY/LG brands from the various threads of this forum. So watching satellite/Blue Ray HD content is my primary requirement than watching 3D but, feel I should be capable to handle 3D as well in case if it become versatile in it's rebirth. 3D has been present from decades but, it never got clicked in the market. Sometimes mind tells me to just buy a 2D full HD Tv for now and later buy a latest product of that time...like 4D Tv (may be after 5 yrs or when available).

I may use an external USB HDD to play some downloaded contents but, not the internet browsing features with my required screen. Also I believe a 100Hz Tv should play well for a home user. I consider Samsung a fair choice among Sony & LG based on various responses in this forum.

How is the over all performance (PQ, screen response, colours etc) of Samsung D6000 (Basic 3D ; Smart Tv-Yes ; Web browser-No) when compare with D6600 while I watch 2D HD/SD contents ?. Pls advise so that some money can be saved or utilized towards buying a Soundbar or so :-)

Howz the 2D HD/SD performance of LG -LW4500 over LW5700 ?
In Sony, I think only options are left out to me....EX720 or EX520 (non 3D).

Looking forward your valuable comments and advise.
Thanks

Where are you getting 46" Samsung D6000/ Sony EX720 for 75k ??? The 40" versions only cost around 70k. Samsung D6000 46" is 85k and EX720 is 94k.

2D HD/SD performance wise its like this

Sony EX720 >= Samsung D6000 > LG LW4500

LG has the lowest contrast and the worst black level of the three. EX720 and D6000 are about the same with the EX720 being slightly better in contrast and color accuracy.

Get a Samsung 46D6000 if you want a 3D LED. Its available for around 82-83k i think. Its 3D is good and 2D performance(both HD and SD) is very good and it has smart tv features as well.

I would recommend to go for an audition. Then choose whichever attracts your eyes.
Also, check if they can play most file formats that you are willing to play from USB.

I'd vote for Sammy LED.

Colours are better in LG and Samsung than in sony...so go for lg if 3d or samsung if 2d...koreans are no.1 in electronics now, japanese are going down...choose any korean

And how did you come to that conclusion ? Got any numbers to support your claim ?
Sony has the best colors of the three sets the OP has shortlisted. The LG Cinema models are inferior to both Sony EX720 and Samsung D6000 in 2D performance and everybody accepts this fact including many LG Cinema 3D owners. And the OP clarified in his post that 3D is NOT his primary requirement,

So IMO its between the Samsung D6000 and Sony EX720. Samsung has better motion performance and better 3D, Sony EX720 has better contrast, better colors and much better greyscale gamma.

Then that is YOUR opinion cuz you like oversaturated colors. Then yes for people who like over saturated unnatural colors yes Samsung and LG are better as Sony Tvs have more natural and not oversaturated colors.

But that does not make LG and Samsung "better". Because by standard definition the more natural the better and not the other way around. I would suggest you Google "color accuracy" and read a good article that describes what color accuracy is and then post here.

Samsung d6000(3D) , d5500, d5000 are all very good models. Sony ex720(3D) and ex520 are also excellent but when i did a 3d demo of ex720 it did not work well and hence i suggest you take a through 3d demo of ex720 if you want to buy it for 3d or else just stick with ex520.

I have to agree with you. EX720 3D did not impress me at all. I would give it 6/10 for 3D. There is definite ghosting/crosstalk and the depth is not very impressive. Separation between layers is also average at best.

Panasonic led 42e30 has best motion clarity. Anybody can go and check it in biz news tickers ( I would suggest to see zee business as it has colored text on white background, go and see for yourself). LG 5500 was next among what i auditioned followed by philips 4 series led. Sony and samsung are worst.

Sorry but 42e30 has pathetic contrast ratio of 942:1. And its motion performance is also average and so is its color accuracy. Check any review.

Panasonic TC-L42E30 LED LCD HDTV Review - TelevisionInfo.com

A good review with numerical proof about its average performance across the board and in no way does it stand up to Sony EX720/EX520 and Samsung D6000.

And I believe the reason behind such an unimpressive performance is that it uses LG IPS panel which is known to have worse black levels and low contrast.

LG is 3D LED king:)

With all due respect, you are mistaken. The 3d experience of a 3d plasma far exceeds the FPR passive 3D tech in LG even after the full hd firmware update pushed by LG.

I have demoed 3D in Active shutter Samsung & Sony LEDs and Samsung and Panasonic Plasmas and Passive in LG LED. Also i have seen both 3D Active and Passive in Cinema Theatres( Xpand Active shutter on 4k digital).

I just have to say that Active shutter technology far exceeds passive in its ability to create solid sense of depth and immersion. The amount of detail available is staggering.

Plasma 3DTV and digital active shutter 3D in cinemas really provide a gr8 3D experience. Even active shutter LED's are getting better but still not nearly as good as plasmas except in extreme high end models

Thanks for your concern brother but I do not get any eye strain with my active shutter setup :) It depends on the individual.
