Hello TV Experts :)

I am goldy from Goa, i am much more confuse in buying TV which is good for future as there are lots of tv brands out there with special feature like Full HD,HD Ready and 3D

My Budget: 45000
Size: 40inch
Feature i want: Full HD,smart tv(internet, youtube .etc) and i also thinking about 3D but i realised after reading some of thread here and there and found out that 3D is not good(Shutter 3D & Passive 3D) and very expensive 3.5k for one glasses at sony showroom. so i decided not to go for 3D

Btw i want little info on LED and Plasma? which is better for living room is about 6f distance?
i will also get DishHDTV DTH Service

please let me know your advice :)

Welcome to the board ;)

Prices in Goa are roughly 5-8k more than other places. You may get some good deals if you wait for Dussehra/Diwali.

I am only checking plasmas and have no idea of LCD prices. Within 45k you will get Samsung 43D450, 43D490 (3D but no glasses), LG 350, 560Jazz and Panasonic 42X20/30. All are HD models, not Full HD.

Hoping prices fall under 40k in Diwali. In places like Mumbai/Bangalore, some of the above are going for 35k or even less

Spoke to some dealers and was told no difference in diwali as they just set up the discounted price which we already bargained and got.

btw i dont know about LCD,LED or Plasma so please let me know your advice :)

You need to let us know your budget.

Go to any showroon and see the lcd/led/plasma and see which your eyes like better.

Once thats done then its easier to provide options.

Panasonic TVs support only a very few file types. While searching for a plasma I carried a USB with many file formats. 42X30 and 42U30 panasonics opened only few of them. Heir and LG sets opened all of them. Even samsung is better than panasonic. So you carry your own USB with file types you watches most and test the set.

About Lcd v/s led v/s Plasma read here or google.

Also go see all them so you know which picture you like the most.

LCD - Sony CX 520
Led - Samsung D5500
(both these should come in your budget in grey market )
Plasma - Panasonic U30D

Best Of Luck....

ohh ok,
but this tv i am looking for Hall(Living Room) so it should be view clear in every position(right, left, down,up,near and infront) cause i read somewhere that LED is not good for Living Room?

btw may i know more about 3D or it is useless atm? cause if there is good 3D TV so i can strech my budget to 55K

Ok, but I hope prices in Goa get down to some reasonable middle ground during the festival. Feels bad to get something for 65-75k here when others are buying it for 55-65k.

@echo77

which TV you are thinking of buying? and which one you advice me to buy cause i wont be replacing this tv for atleast 3-4years of time...

That problem is with LCD , its better with Led and best is plasma.

Cons for plasma is reflective panel.

Since the tv is for the hall , go check the plasma , u can get a 50" btw 55-65k.

I'll be going for a plasma, something that I feel is VFM - have to visit panasonic showroom to see and will take a decision based on diwali offers available. Almost everything is variable right now - HD/FullHD and 42"/50", even budget 40-70 ;)

Will try to see if samsung plasmas are on display somewhere. Saw LG some days back.

Ok ill also go for Plasma but we have a showcase and there is only 40inch space box available so please help me to pick out LED or Plasma TV but it has to be only 40inch not more than that please.....

Go to official website of the brand and check WxHxD dimensions of the TV

Roughly,
42" plasma is approx 100cm-103cm wide, approx 70cm high with stand
50" plasma is approx 120-122cm wide, approx 80cm high with stand

You won't get a plasma below 42", so for 40" wide space (101cm) you will be pushing it.

You may consider 40" LCD if that fits or 37" LCD will surely fit.
Samsung has one 37" LCD available (and Benq also, but I'm not sure if Benq TV is available or has service center in Goa)

Well if you want 40" size tv then you will have to go with samsung or sony.
But your budget is low for getting it from showroom. You may get the 40D550 for around 1k to 2k more then your budget.

If you consider the grey market(i have no idea about goa) you can get a Sony CX520 for around 40k and if samsung is available you can get a samsung D5000 for the same price.

42 inch tv means diagonal size. actually if you measure the width of 42 inch tv it is 40 inch. 50 inch tv is 47.5 inch width.
